I visited the CLS admissions office today, and the front desk staff told me that Held candidates should not expect to hear before April 25. Now, we may still hear before then, but it seems that the admissions office very well may need until the very end to make the final determinations.

Also, I should say that I've been reading TLS the entire cycle, but did not sign up for an account until now - I felt y'all deserved this information. I know that this wait has been quite frustrating for me, and I'm sure the feeling is shared. Hopefully, now we can better manage our expectations and plan ahead. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the info. I wish it were happier news. Last year some held people had already heard by now.

Being held really is a de facto waitlist. I knew that most people would go held -> waitlist, but I didn't think it would be (almost) all of them.

It's like Columbia is your crush who you asked to prom. She says "let me think about it" even though she knows you have pretty much no chance, but wants to keep her options open. Well the popular guy at school decides she's worth his time, so she tells you you're out, but wants you to wait by the phone on prom night just in case he can't make it.

Congratulations!!!

I would think they're trying to make a significant number of decisions before their Mondays at Columbia program on the 28th- good luck to those of y'all still waiting!!
