Monday is the extended application deadline at NYU for people that missed the December LSAT due to test center cancellations. Hopefully we see some movement right after that once admissions knows exactly all of the applicants it has and some other applicants begin to make decisions.

I applied 3/6 but I had no idea that's why they extended the deadline, I just saw it was extended on LSAC. Oh well, they requested my CAS report and I'll just hope they choose not to return my app.

I would find it unlikely that they would cross-reference the geographic origins of applicants against the list of test center closures for December -- or even filter applications by test center codes -- just seems a little excessive, but who knows...

does anyone have any insight as to whether the Root Tilken Kern or the An Bryce is the better scholarship? I think they each offer full-tuition, but does one offer better connections or programs or anything?

They are both limited but in different ways. An Bryce is for high achieving candidates who succeeded in spite of serious social or economic challenges (the recipients are the first in their families to attend grad school and many grew up without a lot of money). Not everyone can apply, but the recipients aren't limited in their career choices.

Root Tilden Kern is open to anyone, but it requires recipients to pursue public interest law. I don't know the exact stipulations, but I know that a RTK scholar who works in the private sector within 10 years of graduating from law school (either in-house or at a firm) must pay back the scholarship money they received. I don't know how this works for programs that some firms have where you're required to work for them for a certain amount of time but they pay your salary to do PI for a certain number of years in exchange.

I think both confer substantial benefits in terms of mentorship and alumni networks.

im pretty familiar with the selection criteria, I guess I'm just wondering which is more highly regarded. Like between the two, which should one prioritize (assuming one is non-aversion to PI law)? Mostly wondering if one entails a more robust alumni network or something.

If it were me, I would prioritize the An Bryce. Full tuition/ more career flexibility. There is a huge difference, at least IMO, in not being averse to PI law and being obligated to practice it for 10 years. I'm sure the alumni network is more diverse among An Bryce scholars, but I doubt it's stronger. But I've never gotten an An Bryce or a RTK scholarship, so my experience is limited.

UR1 1/13, just under median LSAT, just over 75th GPA.

Stuck at a mid/late January UR1 with an LSAT > 75th and a GPA above 25th but below median.
