 Welcome! I am slightly envious of your impressive accomplishments (I could hardly pass high school physics...). I'm sure you'll have a great cycle!

Aww, thank guys. TLS has been a great resource for me as I've lurked through the whole application process.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of physics you study? I have a very good friend who is getting a Ph.D in Physics in Stanford. He studies the black hole and time machines. IT IS SO COOL.

i like how you're acting like your numbers arent equally as impressive ;)

Shhhhh trying to be modest here!

Srsly though, I admire those who study/enjoy maths/sciences - I was forced to do a lot math competitions when I was in high school and I hated it.

I also did math competitions in high school. I actually enjoy math, but I'm somehow going to law school.

+1. I think math is one of the highest avg LSATs by major isn't it?

Math is fun to a point. When you need to spend 3 hours solving one question, there's no fun at all.

Math is awesome. I got screwed out of finishing with a math major in addition to my other majors by my advisor who told me that the courses I needed to graduate would be available in the Spring semester of my senior year, and they weren't. He tried to convince me to stay another semester, but I didn't wanna.

Edit: it is four-and-a-half hours to solve three problems

I'm terrible at math (not exaggerating-I looked up my SAT score a while ago because I thought I was going to have to provide it to schools, and I got like a 52nd percentile score on the math section  ) and LG was by far my weakest section. There does seem to be a strong correlation between LG skills and math/science skills.

I wish the bolded were true for me. I am great at logic and crush logic games but of my three math classes in college (none above college algebra) i only managed a couple of B+'s and an F.

Math singlehandedly kept me from pursuing economics.

I understand. Higher level econs are basically maths.

OH the SAT. Maths saved the day for my SAT because back then my English sucked.

In general, for me, Maths/Econ classes in college = easy As without much studying.

Sorry, Team China here. To clarify: I was in a special maths class trained for that, but I didn't participate in the actual one.

I log on and see all these new posts and am convinced that decisions have been going out. Instead, a discussion on math :P

I wasn't a math major because getting a third Bachelors seems excessive, but I'll join the love fest and say that I find math a lot of fun too. I especially enjoyed Calculus and Trig. My math homework was like my daily meditation because you could turn the music up and let you mind wander while going through routine processes. It was nice. But man, you people are all absurdly qualified; I feel my hopes dwindling away...

Haha, I was 2nd in my region and 9th in NJ in Mathcounts. I never made the USAMO but I came really close. I think I got an 8 on the AIME one year. I got a 10 on the Putnam exam as a college freshman but I didn't take it again. So yeah, I guess I'm a mathlete. I only minored in math in college because I wanted to work in finance and my UG has a really good 2 year UG business school.
