Does anyone think there is any significance to the fact that Stanford has accepted 11 fewer people on LSN this year (waitlist acceptances excluded) than the previous two cycles? Is it possible that there are more acceptances to come?

If there aren't any pre-WL acceptances to come, what have they been doing with our applications? I'd expect more dings and some WLs by now. I'm thinking we'll see a few more straight acceptances.....although I haven't looked at the SLS data/trends as much as I have for other schools.

Seriously hoping Faye decides to make a lot of calls this week after ASW!

A little tidbit about the admissions process:

The faculty does have a hand in reading applications, and different faculty members may read at different rates. Sometimes, a delay may be simply due to a faculty member's busy schedule. Beyond that, I know Faye takes great care in evaluating each application, and expediting that process would take away a little bit of what makes each SLS class special. Sit tight!

...I have a hard time imagining it would be considered acceptable to delay admissions past the only ASW. It doesn't take that long to make a decision.

ASW is extremely early this year because the law schools have been trying to jockey around Easter (Sunday, 4/20). Schools also were trying to avoid having their ASWs pile up on top of each other, which is why we get SLS this week (as opposed to two weeks from now), and HLS next week (and Chicago/Berkeley, etc.).

And as I mentioned in my previous post, sometimes decisions get delayed for reasons Faye can't control.

Do you know when faculty review typically starts?

I got the sense at ASW that they're close to done with direct admits at this point; my guess is that there will be a lot of movement in the next week or two.

I'm still optimistic. If they had already decided to WL/reject all of us they would let us know by now; they're not sadists (I hope). I think, and this is pure speculation, that there is a legitimate "maybe" pile and some of us will still get in. ASW was early this year, and that may have slowed things down in later March/early April relative to last year. I think there are still some spots and they'll go out soon.

Yes, Stanford and Yale have begun firing faculty who take too long reviewing applications. Psych!

What does that mean exactly? Like, you heard specific things, or there was a giant pile of applications in a box labeled "deny"?

I want a decision yet I am so happy not to see DLS on my status check.

Those were printouts from tinder. Rejected applications are burnt as an offering to USN&WR in hopes of a good harvest.

Agreed. No other school really waits from October to April+ for some applicants. "Making the class special" meaning some applicants hear nothing for over half a year -- many of whom have deposit deadlines at other schools but would pick Stanford as a first choice -- does a disservice to applicants, IMO.

Yeah, I don't know. That's a really long time. I never really understood why Stanford waited until the end of April to WL and ding certain candidates. It happens every year. Maybe Faye has more acceptances in the pipeline or maybe she's just covering herself in case there's some cataclysmic event and she loses more of her chosen class to YH and scholarships than usual.

I really do hope there's reason to be optimistic. I'd be curious to know what made bhs think SLS was done admitting people.

Is ASW still going on? If so, I would think we wouldn't hear anything today.
