STTTanford is a clear TTT in decline. Alternatively, Stanford is so much better than everyone else that they just operate on their own calendar.
Maybe she said "end of April" ??

If you get the phone call, does the checker change to DLS afterwards? I mean a DL has been S... you just know about it ahead of time.

I don't think withdrawing really opens up space, because all schools count on a certain percentage of people not matriculating.

I may be overly optimistic but I think there are acceptances left to be had. As has been noted, most late applicants haven't heard back. I think they are evaluating our applications together and will release approvals proportional to the stage in the process.

Here's my theory:
Even for late submissions, they have already gone through and admitted almost all of their auto-admits. These are the people who have cured cancer, hugged orphans, and all of the truly exceptional minds from the top schools.
They have also admitted a bunch of fantastic URM candidates and truly unique candidates to help make their class diverse and interesting (note: this group often overlaps with the cancer cure, orphan-hugging, brilliant mind crowd).
Then, there's the rest of us. For the rest of us, they fight tooth-and-nail in a conference room to decide who gets in (or WL or Ding).
I have a feeling that they have already thoroughly reviewed anyone who submitted before Jan. 1st. If you are a 2013 submit, then the chance of a straight admission may be very, very low. Your WL chances are good though.
Those who submitted after Mid-January may not have been thoroughly vetted in the tooth-and-nail conference room discussions yet. That will likely happen in the next two weeks after ASW is over. There may be some straight acceptances left (less than 20?--who knows?).
All of this is blind conjecture, of course. I have no inside information.

This may have been said, but FWIW there are currently 239 people in the admitted students facebook group and last year they admitted 392, so there are probably spots left?

The JD application for Fall 2013 admission will be available on September 1, 2012. Applicants may transmit the SLS application after September 15, 2012. The application deadline for Fall 2013 admission is February 1, 2013

If it's the former, that's good news. If it's the latter, who knows? There's probably a sizable gap between the Facebook group and actual admits.
There was no official Facebook group last year, so no real way to compare (there was an unofficial FB group, and if I recall correctly, there was an official Google group...but who uses Google groups?). There were 392 admits.

But if there are no more acceptances, what are they holding us for? To decide between ding and WL?
I can't imagine they put that much thought into that, since the odds of admission are slim. It's probably stat based, and they can do comprehensive review if/ when it comes to admitting off the wl.
The explanation for the wait must be that dean Deal is perfecting her signature for our acceptance letters.

So, after stalking Stanford LSN like a crazy person, I found out that SLS traditionally releases acceptances at least through the 2nd week of April. I don't know how that corresponds to the various dates of its ASWs, but the latest reported acceptance I could find for the last 5 years was on April 13th, 2009. Two cycles ago, there were a number of acceptances on April 10th and 11th.
Me thinks there's a glimmer of hope. Next week and the week after will be telling though. It seems like there generally aren't more straight acceptances after the WL comes out.
