anyone know if there'll be significant admit/ding waves before the WL comes out?

Historically there have been. But SLS is a black box. Who knows whether they'll just conduct a seance and mass admit the applicants whose spirits have the right aura during the week before the ASW?

Does anyone have evidence to support the hypothesis that the faculty administering the faculty review are less concerned with numbers to fill the remaining spots/WL's and more apt to admitting based on personal statement strength?

Heh and it's no longer dated today. The power of TLS!

I was talking about this one, but they also updated it 18 hours ago to today's date-perhaps they can see the future.

hahahaha my bad
that's hilarious though

18 hours before it would have been mid-morning on the 18th in some parts of the world. Not everyone is currently on EST you know.

False. Eastern is the only time zone.

Stanford's 2012 ASW was April 20-23. On LSN, there were no non-waitlist admits after that. The last accept prior was on 4/11.

Stanford's 2013 ASW was April 12-15. On LSN, there is 1 acceptance not marked as a waitlist on August 1. This obviously seems like a mistake and was a waitlist-admit. There are two pure accepts on April 9th.

There is hope!

I've never heard this idea but wish it were true--I like my PS but my GPA is repugnant by SLS standards and will likely be the death of me!

I hope so because my GPA is absolutely abysmal and my personal statement, I gotta say, was pretty awesome

Hi all,

I know this question has been posed in the past so thanks for bearing with my Stanford waiting paranoia, ha. My app went complete in early Nov and I scheduled a visit to SLS and meeting with an admissions officer next week to show my continued interest. Do you think it would be bothersome to also send a Loci to convey my commitment to the school? I have nothing new to add to my record. Thanks for the advice :)

Sub-3.5/173. Elite ug. Ph.D. 5 years out with impressive work experience, graduate record, essays, and 4 very strong letters of recommendation. Evidence for posterity that Stanford really does bite at soft stuff. Nice to find after returning from a long holiday.

I decided over Christmas that I won’t be attending law school, so hopefully one you gets my spot. Good luck.

P.S. I only applied to two schools, which gave me the added luxury of really being able to tailor each application package. Most don’t. I’d PMed/e-mailed a number of current Stanford students (including an old college friend) to learn about the kinds of backgrounds SLS students brought to the table. Some of the things I’d heard about the student composition at SLS were flat-out awe inspiring. That said, I really think it pays to craft a particular “image” for those schools with certain student profiles (NU, SLS, YLS come to mind). Best of luck.

I think some serious action might be coming soon. A 173/3.85 just posted a ding on LSN.

No, my parents left a message for me. I just got home yesterday.
I applied in November, then emailed the admissions office to withdraw two weeks later. I re-submitted the same package in December. Wasn't an issue at all.

Scoobers,

I switched to ED after my acceptance was already mailed (11/11 postmark or something). I was permitted to apply elsewhere and still technically RD. I didn't break an ED contract or anything like that.

So wait, for science, when exactly did the call come?

ETA: also congrats! and all that :)

I PMed him, but that might be from 3/14 (and received the letter today).

Hey All,

I am the 173/3.85. Submitted mid november.

Went DLS today, and I called the office to confirm. Stanford receptionist: "we are unable to offer you admission for next years class." Doesn't feel good getting straight-up rejected, but my spirits are alright. Maybe I'll take the bar in cali and enjoy the warmth then! Good luck to the rest of you.

Snail mail, at least if you're in the US. Not sure about other countries.

The faculty committee changes from year to year, so it's impossible to predict.
