I'll have been complete for 6 months in a couple of weeks. Every time I check my status checker the sad, dramatic music they play on America's Next Top Model when a girl is eliminated plays in my head..

So how do we feel about today?

Cautiously optimistic. But I wouldn't put any money on it.

I think if we see more calls this week, they'll be tomorrow. We may have some dings today around mid-afternoon.

Faye, if you're reading this-please know that I would LOVE to be wrong.

Just imagine how every Samford student/alum feels when they have to correct people that it's SAMford not STANford.

best case is that you get in:) Stanford seems to prioritize GPA over LSAT, so I'd say that if you've got pretty solid softs and come from a good UG then you shouldn't necessarily count yourself out of the running. WL is probably the mostt likely tho.

That said, I think you sh consider retaking, and reapplying. You've probably heard it before, but I really think that with that GPA if you reapplied and just raised your score like 6 points you become a very strong contender for Harvard and Stanford, and a shot at Yale.

True, and you might also get a lot more scholarship offers. Money matters!

I've been avoiding checking my Stanford status checker for the past few weeks, just out of fear of seeing DLS. I had a sudden urge to check, and phew still 'submitted for review'. But my, what a THRILL waiting for that page to load. I need more excitement in my life

Or when they have to correct people that they're UNemployed instead of EMployed because they were not adequately informed about the legal market.

Anyway, rant over. I would be hesitant to call someone a "splitter" who got a 3.6x at a service academy. That's equivalent to a 4.0 at most schools.

Too true.

I don't follow. Didn't you know Samford was ranked #6 by USNWR in trial advocacy? Get with the times, man

I've had a string of bad news in the last 24 hours, but a call would go a long way, Faye. A looooong way.

Honestly I would welcome any sort of response at this point. I've already practically accepted a WL/Ding, but the lingering hope is making the wait unbearable.

Feels like there is enough material in this forum for some kind of pop psych study on bad news vs. uncertainty and its effects on the human will/psyche/alcohol consumption. Then it would have a semi anti intuitive headline like: "When Bad News Is Actually Good News" and there would be mention of implications for corporate hiring practices or cancer diagnoses when it gets its write up in The Atlantic.

I feel like bad news is only preferable to uncertainty in the abstract. Once you get an outcome you don't want, you'd probably give a lot to go back to waiting if waiting might yield you a more favorable result. At least that's always how I feel after I don't get something I really wanted.
