Probably all admissions hands on deck for asw.

while mindful about the earlier complaints of those who have gotten in at H (or Y), this lack of decision is really frustrating. i'm extremely interested in stanford but grew up on the east coast and have no actual exposure to the school. i so wish i could make up for this at ASW but this no longer looks like a possibility. as much as i'm enamoured about the idea of small-class sizes and living in paradise, i just can't commit three years and hundreds of thousands of dollars sight unseen.

Yeah, that does kinda suck. Yale supposedly has a second, mini-ASW for their late admits and people who couldn't make it to the main one but S doesn't have anything similar. I mean, I'll give up my H seat in a heartbeat for SLS and if (against all odds) I get Yale, I'd give that up too without ever visiting S, but it would be nice if all admits were notified in time to make ASW.

Then again, maybe they're done with straight admits and the rest of us are all WL/dings.

I don't think so Toast. I think they're complaining that *if* they were admitted at this point in the cycle, they wouldn't be able to visit during ASW to make a completely informed decision (regarding SLS vs H/Y). See bolded passage above

I went complete and was submitted for review 2/6. Still nothing, but I'm hoping, SLS is first choice.

yea that's what I was looking for. lol fuck. I was hoping that some recent good news would be a leading indicator for S but at least now I'm only slightly worse than a coin-flip whereas before I was only looking at 26%

Would you take S over YH, though?

As of now probably not but you never know. I guess I won't be admitted in time for ASW (just lol) so I probably won't visit.

I say that because before getting Y I was sure I'd choose HLS even if I got Y, but after getting it I'm not so sure anymore and it's now 50/50. So maybe the same thing will happen with S.

I thought Y would be a moral victory but it's really exerting its pull

Just remember that there are people who would give their kidney and/or first-born children to have the chance to actually go to these schools. Collecting acceptances shouldn't be a thing.

+1 I agree. As soon as I knew I wouldn't go to school X I withdrew my application.

But to be fair to the OP it sounds like this person isn't totally sure, and in the long run I'm not sure it will hurt anyone. The class is going to be filled from the waitlist anyway, regardless of when an accepted student decides he isn't going, so the only people who lose are, I reckon, are folks who would go if they got in but wouldn't if they got WLed and people who are borderline admission but are bad at getting in off the wait-list (maybe the write a shitty LOCI?). Love to hear other people's thoughts, though.

I agree, but I understand the people who have S or Y as a top choice (as opposed to H) and are super invested in the process for those schools, even though they have gotten into H. For people that wouldn't consider S or H or other schools but are nonstop on the forums for the schools trying to get in for the sake of pure ego and then a withdrawal, meh.

harvardians looking to trade up are fine. main point was that yale is just so beyond the pale, basically the fairy tale castle of law school admissions, that a gentle admonishing seemed in order.

As an H looking to trade up, glad I have your seal of approval Depending on your career plans, I can see S vs. Y being a tough choice (at least, for me it would be). But if I had a Yale golden ticket in my pocket I sure as heck wouldn't be bitching about Stanford in here!
