As an international candidate, and someone who applied relatively naive to the process, I can say that the whole experience of a cycle has been humbling and slightly soul destroying. Having said that, I kinda feel as though reapplying next cycle would be a more positive step forward than simply waiting on... these good damn wait lists. I guess the trick is to ensure you have something to strength your position. Relying on falling application numbers alone would be a risky strategy, I imagine.

Received a call from UMich today, but i was in a meeting. The call went to voicemail but nothing was left. I sent an LOCI earlier this week.

What number shows on caller id when they call? any ideas?

Edit: for clarification i don't know if it was from the LS or not. I'm an UG alum so it could simply be a telethon fundraising call. When i called the number back it took me to the general UM directory and a short message. Not trying to get my hopes up, but still.

Had an interview this week. Straight up told them that I'm probably not going to law school in the fall, that I need a bunch of money to attend if I got accepted, and that if they don't let me in, I'll likely reapply in the fall.

Guess who's not getting a spot.

I just called the admissions office. I told them that I had been called last Monday and inquired as to whether I should expect a decision to be made on my application anytime soon. They told me the usual: that although they may make some more offers in the upcoming weeks they couldn't guarantee it and that the call was simply to make sure I was still interested.

So, either they called and didn't like what they heard (which bodes well for you, UMich11, congratulations) or they'll be admitting a number of people in the upcoming weeks (which bodes well for both of us), or, they were actually just going through their wait list and I shouldn't have gotten my f@cking hopes up...

Seats keep opening up and getting filled, and every time they make an offer, they give the person a week to decide what they'll do. It can take forever.

Checking out. Removed from the WL this morning. No terrible surprise here as I told em I would only come if given money and notice by mid July. Good luck to all thos till waiting, especially those of whom it's their first choice.

"With about five weeks to go before Orientation, we do not expect that we will be able to make too many more waitlist offers. We hear, however, that at least a few of our peer institutions are still admitting significant numbers from their waitlist, so we would not be surprised if that has a ripple effect that opens up a few more spots in our class. We are continuing to release candidates from the waitlist but we will maintain a core group of waitlisted candidates who have expressed a willingness to remain under consideration through late August. We appreciate the updated information that many of you provided and thank you for your continued patience."

It's all but over now.

I hope so too. However, per a convo with admissions, they're over, not under-enrolled. That means they don't need to replace people who drop at this point. They set it up so they can take late losses.
