What does it mean that some people received the interview invite that Tuesday (1-2 days after being WL-ed), some that same Friday and some just late last week?

My guess is they're going by alphabetical order.

I take that back.
They threw the applications in the air and whichever ones landed on the desk got the interview invites earlier. Those that landed out the window have yet to get a JS1. :p
I'd like to think 1st wave was 1st choice, 2nd wave - 2nd, etc. (just cuz it helps me sleep better at night). In reality they probably didn't wan't to create a black friday type of crush so spaced out the invites.

Does anyone have an interview scheduled for tomorrow that has not yet been confirmed by the office? Trying to gauge whether this is the norm or not...
Me. I am probably going to call around 12pm PST/3pm Eastern if I don't hear back by then.

Haha as someone who was not in the 1st wave, I prefer your second theory. by spacing them out everyone was able to schedule a JS1 in a short while after getting the invite. if you look at the google doc, each wave has a mix of locks, longshots, splitters, reverse splitters, URMs, etc so i don't think this was their implicit method of ranking the waitlist.

I think the spacing in the waves just reflects time taken to review the WL. I think the "2nd" choice will come in any waves after May 1st or after the first WL-JS2 decisions come out.

To be fair, we have established an anecdotal correlation between lowly UGs with high numbers and the waitlist.

I've come across these two threads/sections of threads that discuss JS1 questions, but is there any place that is easily accessible where more questions/experiences are compiled (besides sifting through 300+ pages for occasional mentions of questions)? Thanks, really appreciate it!

Is there any evidence that shows JS1's are given out in order of people wait listed? My 4/25 WL date would be really brutal if that's true

Just looked at the spreadsheet again for the first time in a while. To whoever is maintaining it - nice job. Very impressive google docs skillz.

That would be txdude45. Thanks goes to him.

From last year's thread, page 67.

So i decided I'm going to play this Harvard waitlist game. Emailed them a LOCI today saying and let them know about a big award I won at school. I never emailed them asking to be on the waitlist till last week and my status just got updated today. I was a 4/5 waitlist invite

Hey fellow WLers - sorry if this has been analyzed to exhaustion already, but I figured I'd ask here in the hopes that someone has already obsessively researched this (that's what TLS is all about after all). Do we know what kind of odds we WLers with a JS1 coming have? I assume my odds aren't great. I'd sift through the tomes of TLS myself if I weren't in a country that seems to get an hour total of internet connection per day. Thanks! :)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
