Yes I did. They were very cordial and the tour was very good.WonkaTots wrote:The contradicting speculations are maddening.
I'm keeping mum on my stats. (Hint: They weren't stellar.) I'll just say I'm in-state.
Anyone bother to take a tour/sit in on a class since being waitlisted?

No kidding. I didn't meet anyone in admissions calling shots. I thoroughly enjoyed the class though. I give a two thumbs up on the visit for that alone..JXander wrote:Yes, though you do not get to interact with admissions much. Re: Waitlisted at TEXAS c/o 2016
I just wanted to clarify for y'all, the person on TLS dinged/accepted was me but I know for a fact that one of my buddies/sectionmates (also a TX resident) had the same thing happen. I would bet they have an extra deep waitlist this year to avoid that scenario happening again.table3 wrote:Yeah, this.rabbitrun wrote:It sounded like lots of people were offered off the WL last year based on the UT c/o 2015 group or whatever. One was admitted after being dinged... but that doesn't mean that they took everyone off the WL.bethanyrose09 wrote:Where did you hear that from? Is that what ppl have told you from last yrs class or is that just what you gathered from law school forums and LSN?table3 wrote:So, the received wisdom seems to be that everyone who stayed on the waitlist last year was offered a spot - and then some. But has anyone ever discerned whether or not this was the case for both Texas residents and out-of-state residents?
Fingers crossed that they really dig into their WL.
Last cycle, a person on TLS said s/he got in after being dinged. I've also heard that this happened through word of mouth, completely independent of TLS (i.e., a friend-of-a-friend sort of thing). I believe this person is a Texas resident, but I can't say so with 100% confidence. I don't know if the TLS person and the word-of-mouth-person are, in fact, the same person.
The conclusion that the entire waitlist was exhausted might be nothing more than an assumption based on the fact that they admitted someone they had originally denied. So, is that a warranted assumption? I'm not sure that it is. When you consider that UT's 1L class must be at least 65% Texas residents, it seems feasible that a scenario could arise in which they're passing up out-of-staters on the waitlist but offering admission to Texans they had originally denied in order to meet this requirement.
I hasten to add that this is just conjecture.

LSN isn't too helpful in that regard. Those that bothered to update their statuses last year from waitlist to acceptance recorded February (which I'm assuming is the date they were initially waitlisted), May & July .
Now to dig through the TLS forums!

LSN is showing a lot of withdrawn applicants and many top schools have already begun pulling off their WL. Hopefully we will begin hearing on Monday!

Re: Waitlisted at TEXAS c/o 2016
I think they'd make any waitlist decision regarding your file based on your current information (LSAT score included). I've been debating whether or not to retake too. It's definitely the reason I feel I was waitlisted. However, based on the information available on how waitlists work, I don't think it'd make a difference to retake unless the end product is an amazing/scholarship-worthy score.alinor wrote:
If I sign up to retake in June does that mean they won't make a waitlist decision until after the LSAT?
I gather they mostly look for waitlisted candidates to replace their initial admits that also fit the initial admit's softs and/or numbers to maintain whatever well-rounded class they're striving for. Additionally, beginning May 15, LSAC "provides participating law schools with periodic reports detailing the number of applicants who have submitted seat deposits or commitments at other participating schools, along with identification of those other schools." The information reported includes names and LSAC account numbers. http://www.lsac.org/jd/apply/whom-to-admit.asp. While I doubt schools actually rescind their offers, they likely apply pressure to admits and activate their waitlists to compensate.
In short, it's safe to say much of the waitlist movement will happen before June scores are released in July. ...BUTTTT, again, this is a world where rejects can be later offered admission so little is definitive here. Best of luck to you if you do retake!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
