Sounds like a good sign! Keep us posted

WDH wrote:Hey guys I've been quiet on here but wanted to give everyone an update.
I was on the preferred wait list (but not the SPECIAL one). I received the email on May 3rd asking for an immediate response, and then again on the 6th stating the class was full at that time.
I then received a call on May 30th, that started out somewhat YP, but was very friendly, I maintained my interest in the school because I have been very interested in attending all along. At the end of the conversation I was offered admission. I got the email confirmation later that day. I was given until Monday June 10th to decide.
After that I started asking about aid and requested a quick decision. They told me that $5-10k per year might be available and asked if I was interested. After some back and forth I received an award of $15k per year, and an extension until today June 12th.
It was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, but I ended up turning them down in favor of Vandy.
I had a very pleasant experience dealing with the GULC admissions staff, and although there were some obvious YP attempts and fishing on their part to get me as cheap as possible, it was still very professional and never once turned me off.
Good luck to you guys still waiting, I hope you are next in line and if given a chance I would recommend to negotiate $$.

He personally signs all acceptance letters so being out of country might cause hold up?

Most institutions that require a single individual to sign tons of documents use a machine to do it. The machine scans the signature than uses pen and makes an exact replica. The machines are pretty cheap. I used to work for a governor and I never saw him personally sign any document.

Edit: I'd also expect some movement early next week, as Friday is some sort of deadline.
