Hey guys I've been quiet on here but wanted to give everyone an update.

I was on the preferred wait list (but not the SPECIAL one). I received the email on May 3rd asking for an immediate response, and then again on the 6th stating the class was full at that time.

I then received a call on May 30th, that started out somewhat YP, but was very friendly, I maintained my interest in the school because I have been very interested in attending all along. At the end of the conversation I was offered admission. I got the email confirmation later that day. I was given until Monday June 10th to decide.

After that I started asking about aid and requested a quick decision. They told me that $5-10k per year might be available and asked if I was interested. After some back and forth I received an award of $15k per year, and an extension until today June 12th.

It was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, but I ended up turning them down in favor of Vandy.

I had a very pleasant experience dealing with the GULC admissions staff, and although there were some obvious YP attempts and fishing on their part to get me as cheap as possible, it was still very professional and never once turned me off.

Good luck to you guys still waiting, I hope you are next in line and if given a chance I would recommend to negotiate $$.

So quiet. Like cemetery quiet. Like how it must sound on the space station quiet. Quiet.

Deathly quiet. I wonder what Admissions does at times like this... thumb twiddling, perhaps?

Gtown undergrad does, indeed, have a cemetery on its campus.

Ugh. I had basically given up on Georgetown, was all excited about my planned school, and now after that phone call I've been all antsy this whole week wondering if and when I'm going to hear anyway. I hope it's soon, whatever the decision is. GULC has gone back to kind of being my dream school, so I need to either fulfill that dream or crush it ASAP.

Not sure how much this affects things, but I was told that Dean Cornblatt is on international travel until June 19th.

He personally signs all acceptance letters so being out of country might cause hold up?

Most institutions that require a single individual to sign tons of documents use a machine to do it. The machine scans the signature then uses pen and makes an exact replica. The machines are pretty cheap. I used to work for a governor and I never saw him personally sign any document.

So the delay might have more to do with his absence in committee meetings?

Are they going to make more cuts to the wait list on 7/1?

Probably, but how could we know. Only Admissions can provide the answer to the question you pose.

As several observers opined last week, everything has gone very... quiet. Admissions told me that wait list admits have slowed to "a trickle." Not too optimistic at this point.

Got a scholarship off the waitlist that I'll be accepting. So if you get in off the WL, make sure to ask, even if you've previously indicated you'll attend without merit aid!

Edit: I'd also expect some movement early next week, as Friday is some sort of deadline.

Just got another temperature-taking e-mail asking about my level of interest.
