California Western Class of 2016

Post by e_mac7 » Sat Jan 26, 2013 10:44 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm a local San Diegan so naturally I'm considering both USD and Cal Western. I applied 1/6, and has been in review since before 1/11. Hasn't updated since.

Who's applying this cycle and how long did it take you to hear back if you have. Also, was your status checker as weird as mine in not updating?

Best of luck!

I have been in "committee review" status for a few weeks with no updates. :-( have you heard anything yet?

Congrats on your admission!

I got in yesterday and am waiting to hear back for their scholly offer. Just registered for their summer enrichment program, I have a friend who will be a 2L when I start and she loves it there. :) So excited!

I was admitted this past Tuesday (2/12) with a 70% scholarship! That's more than I was expecting and I will definitely be considering the school now. Since I have the summer free I might live in SD this summer, do the summer enrichment program, then decide if I want to stay in SD or come back to MSU.

I applied on 1/2 and went into committee review on 1/9. Was notified by email about my acceptance and scholarship the same day my status checker changed.

Nice! Yea, I got my 'congratulations' letter in the mail which told me to wait for the financial aid/scholarship packet coming my way, I'm dying to know what their offer will be. If any of you decide on doing the summer enrichment program, message me since I'll be doing it too. :)

Admitted via status checker as of 3/20!!!!! It's so reassuring to know that I actually did get in to law school. CWSL represents a solid backup for me, but this is the best news of my day.

The best way to know is visiting lawschoolnumbers It's self reported data from those who get in,wait, sited or denied and will give you a good look at your chances based on this admissions cycle. :) good luck!

Admitted 3/14! How does one get notified of any scholarship offers? Just curious.

They should send out scholarship offers in the admissions packets/letters.

I got accepted earlier in the month with an 80% scholarship that also included a book stipend. I'm going to try and negotiate a full ride as I also got into USD with a scholarship albeit not as large. We shall see!

I got a pretty good scholly offer from Cali Western. I also got accepted in SD and am going to check out both next week.

Great! Congrats on both! I have talked on many occasions with USD admissions and preferred a whole lot more Cal Western but there's nothing quite like going to tour the school and feeling your fit. Best of luck and either way, you'll be living in a beautiful diverse city so congrats!

emac, what are you doing for housing down there for the Summer Enrichment Program?? The reason I ask is because I know they offer no aid for the program for housing, etc. Did you find a cheap place to stay at or are you rooming with someone? whats going down?? i still need to find a place and everywhere seems pricey. Advice appreciated!

Hi Pangean! There's actually another user on here who is looking for a roommate, so I'll private message him and tell him to get in touch with you. :) Yea, they offer aid for the summer program but I didn't know they didn't offer for housing. Living in downtown can be very costly but it can also be very convenient since it can potentially be walking distance. Another popular place students live is Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach but they're very college party zone type areas. You can try a little further south or north but traffic will be a pain in the neck depending on how far north or south you go. Will you be having transportation? That also alters the decision a ton. I'm a native San Diegan so I'll be living with family.

Are you for sure enrolling in the summer enrichment program? When are you moving here? Let me know if I can help with any other questions or doubts you have.

By "Package" do you mean the acceptance letter? I only received the letter congratulating me but it was not very detailed.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
