Maybe we have already had this conversation, but if you haven't been WL'd yet I would call admissions on the phone and ask about your application. As I understand it the admissions committee has reviewed all the applications at least once.law1992 wrote:I'm waiting to hear from other people who have not recieved a decision yet

I haven't been waitlisted either since I just took the Feb. LSAT. I've been in contact with someone other there for awhile but they advised me to be patient. That's why I'm hoping to hear from someone else in the same situation.

Re: South Texas College of Law Fall 2013
I have been complete since October 29th and have had 0 movement. Due to the advice in this thread I called the admissions office. They called back and basically said that I need to be more patient and that "all decisions will hopefully be out before the beginning of May." Man, they sure are taking their sweet time. I hope they release the scholarship information with the decision as a few other schools have. Still waiting on a few waitlists but this is a good option and I'm anxious to hear back.law1992 wrote:I haven't been waitlisted either since I just took the Feb. LSAT. Wow, that sucks. There were quite a few people at the admitted student function I went to.

I find this very bizarre. I should be a relatively easy admit and they're really making me sweat...

I guess every school is different. And I heard that they view files randomly. Idk if that's true.

That guy said there was a lot of admitted students already. Perhaps all the seats filled up? And we have been left out in the dark. That would suck.

I applied just a couple of days before the deadline and already got admitted. However, I didn't get anything regarding scholarships. Is that supposed to come with my admission offer or does that come separately?

Has anyone attended any of the admitted students receptions so far? If so, would you mind sharing how it was.
Anyone planning on attending the one this Saturday (April 13)?

No, I wasn't above the median. My LSAT score is within their numbers and so is my gpa. I am a URM though; maybe this had something to do with it. For now, I'm glad I've been accepted but would really like to know if I'll be receiving any money.

Re: South Texas College of Law Fall 2013
Admitted students were at the admitted students reception. It was nice, catered with wine and such. Most people dressed with coats.
Scholarship offers do not come with admissions (at least not to the people I've talked to, and not mine). At the reception they said they can typically offer scholarships to those above 154 LSAT. They aren't huge scholarships. They also said the 'recruiting' scholarship money for 0L students is about 28% of the scholarship dollars available, the rest goes to continuing students.
It could be they are waiting to push out further admissions after the first seat deposit is due in a few days? In fact, that is probably a pretty good assumption. Since it's a back up school, many people will drop at seat deposit time.

According to the e-mail I received, the 1st seat deposit ($100) was due in April 1. And the 2nd installment ($200) is due May 1.ryoung81 wrote:It could be they are waiting to push out further admissions after the first seat deposit is due in a few days? Thanks for the response regarding the reception. Did most of the students come alone or did they bring someone with them?

Not everyone has that April 1st deadline. I saw some people have until April 15th.

Anybody know when the deadline for financial aid is? And my first deposit is due by 4/15. They are sending out links for a fb group as well

Re: South Texas College of Law Fall 2013
My seat deposit deadline was 4/15, and 5/15. They have an admitted students FB group.
My understanding is that you need to have financial aid documents in by 5/1, but that they will still process them if you get them in later. I think I remember something about the admission and financial aid process being separate, so you can still submit financial aid docs before you make your decision -- if you wait out until second seat deposit I guess.
As to the reception, some people brought spouses, some were alone, I think two people brought a parent. Most of the crowd was 25+, and a fair amount were non-traditional (like myself).

I find it bizarre that seat deposit deadlines have already passed and they have already hosted school events but haven't at least given all of the applicants SOMETHING. I feel like I'm on a waitlist despite having heard nothing.

Yea same here. I guess they have the luxury of students to be picky.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
