Haha I know a couple of non-TLSers that are going to OU. I'm not even a for sure no, but its highly unlikely given last week.

Also, which school are you leaning towards, PC?
Uhm I have no clue. I'll probably end up at OU. I'll PM you the other places I'm considering.

Most of my friends who are considering OU used their spring break to visit other law schools, so I'll find out soon if they'll be staying in Norman. Judging from Facebook, quite a few people just now applied. Better late than never.

Tell your friends to start TLSing so this thread isn't full of people not going to OU. :(

Haha, a few of them are TLS lurkers, but no actual posters. The ones who do have accounts aren't going to OU, either.

Does anyone else think OU's 1st deposit is a little too large and a little too early? I'm still debating between OU and U. of Colorado. Colorado's deposit is only $200 and not due until April 19th. Other schools I've been admitted to have similar deposits and dates.

Are you in the EAP program? The first deposit for the EAP program is larger due to you already starting school by the time the second is due.

Nopers, not EAP. $425 by the 1st just seems a little steep, and I'd hate to lose that chunk of change if I decide to go elsewhere.

Ah I thought it was $300. I imagine if its an economic hardship type thing you could contact them to talk about it. I have no idea what OU does inregards to this.

When did you guys all apply? I've heard back from every school I've applied to in February *except* Oklahoma. And I went out of my way to write a separate essay for OU, and had an LSAT higher than their 75% marker. No status checker is a pain, and I haven't heard anything from them.

I applied back in February as well. If you are an Oklahoma resident, I know they process those first with it being a public school. A friend of mine is in your situation. She told me the committee met on Wednesday and they would be calling her with a decision on Friday (today) or Monday. I would call Susan Wilson, the admissions director, to ask her about your particular situation. Just dial (405) 325-4726 and ask for her!

I spoke with Susan about this and she said the main logic behind the bigger deposit is to really get students to commit to coming, rather than paying multiple first deposits and deciding on a school later. But she did say that it was flexible, if need be. I'm hoping to do the JD/MPH program and haven't heard from the PubH school yet, so I asked for an extension. I have a feeling they'd be willing to extend your decision date if you just gave them a call to explain that while you're still very interested in OU, you just haven't made your decision yet.

also, I'm new to this thread and would be new to OU....in fact I've never been to Oklahoma. What would I be in for? (seems like a lotta mexican food, which I'm more than okay with)

1) Food (Mexican food, Barbecue, Bobo's chicken, chicken fried steak, Indian tacos, etc.)
2) Weather from Hell (tornadoes, hail, wind, ice storms, thunder storms, thunder ice storms, earthquakes, microbursts, ridiculous temperature fluctuations, droughts, flash floods, wildfires)
3) The OKC Thunder will somehow pop up in every conversation
4) A surprising music and arts scene
5) The Tea Party
6) Low cost of living
7) Megachurches
8 ) Football
9) Traffic on Lindsey during the school year
10) Lots of outdoorsy things to do whenever it's not 110 degrees outside
11) Bad sports talk radio
12) Vast tracts of land
