Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
I posted this question in the Class of SLS thread, but since that is visited rarely, does anyone know if SLS sends us an email or whatnot when they receive our intent to register and deposit?

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
I got an email a couple of days later and the status checker now says "intent to register and deposit received" or something similar

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
I mailed the deposit last Thursday and received an email around noon today that said:
"I write to confirm we have received your intent to register form and deposit."
So mailing it from the west coast resulted in a one week turnaround, if that helps you gauge the timeline at all.

I put:
1. Munger 4 bed - Full Year
2. Munger 4 bed - Academic Year
3. Munger 2 bed - Full Year
4. Munger 2 bed - Academic year

Pretty much the same but academic year was above full year (I hate finding subletters :/ )amonthofsundays wrote:So what does everyone else's housing list look like?

Yea finding someone to sublet is a pain but the piece of advice that I heard most at ASW was to get the full year contract for Munger. Ehh paying for two more months of rent would suck.... now I think I might switch it.

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
The current student I talked to made it sound like it was absolutely no issue to find a subletter for Munger. I could definitely see moving in with friends 2L though so I think I'll stick with my order.amonthofsundays wrote:Yea finding someone to sublet is a pain but the piece of advice that I heard most at ASW was to get the full year contract for Munger. Yukos - you don't have to find a subletter; current studente said that you can just amend the contract whenever and they have no problem with it. (But if this is a big deal, I'd call the housing office)

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
Thanks! Yeah I mailed it Tuesday morning, but I was expecting them to get it by Friday... I'm just worried about it getting lost, but me not being able to send a replacement in time and then I couldn't go to stanford and I would be very sad!statslaw wrote:I mailed the deposit last Thursday and received an email around noon today that said:

Edit: I should have waited one immune before posting... Got the email at 5:57!

Wow seriously? So there's absolutely no downside to the full-year lease then?ManOfTheMinute wrote:Nailed it.amonthofsundays wrote:So what does everyone else's housing list look like?

You also have the option of cancelling the summer part of your countract if you let them know by some date in late-April.
Sidenode: That's what the top of my rankings look like as well, but I put a few more spots on the bottom. i think I ranked 10 places or so total.
ETA: Scooped

Well eff me silly. Free laundry, no bullshit university owned housing rules, and opt-out leases? Munger has to be the best housing option in the T25.

Withdrawing. This one really hurts. Amazing school. If I could just figure out how to be in two or three places at once. A new kind of joint degree, one year at each?

You can do a concurrent Stanford JD/Harvard Kennedy MPP (I think you have to start at Harvard though), a Stanford JD/Princeton MPA and a Stanford JD/Johns Hopkins MA in international studies.eph wrote:Withdrawing. I want to do one year each at Harvard Law, Stanford Law, and Yale Law. But those are good ideas also.Yukos wrote:You can do a concurrent Stanford JD/Harvard Kennedy MPP (I think you have to start at Harvard though), a Stanford JD/Princeton MPA and a Stanford JD/Johns Hopkins MA in international studies.eph wrote:Withdrawing. Got my deposit confirmation. For my fellow (undergrad) transfers, do you think they want transcripts from both schools, or just the degree granting one?

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
They want it from all universities attended. Specifically, "any work completed at another university." I took classes at 5 schools during undergrad, so it's a bit annoying to have to do this again, but it's all good.Yukos wrote:Got my deposit confirmation. If your school has an electronic transcript reporting service, you can have them send it to the admissions e-mail.
