Ha—sorry, but I'm more of a lurker than anything, so a TLS party wouldn't quite be my scene. I've signed up to help with ASW, though, so hopefully I run into a couple of you. You're always welcome to PM me with more specific questions, of course.

TLS party . . . I'm down. Seriously counting down the days until ASW. A fellow admit posted a fantastic picture of an SLS building from her visit on the Facebook page. It'll be so nice to see sunshine instead of grey skies and slushy streets.

Kind of a jumble of thoughts here but it's 2 a.m. EST, and I've got SLS on the brain.

On the financial aid topic: My last year offer from SLS was twice as much as HLS's. I'd already pretty much made up at that point that I'd be choosing SLS but the $$ made it even more certain. Here's to hoping I get a similar/better offer this time around after stringing them along for a year.

I know it doesn't work like that...but I wish it did. D:

As far as response time: I got the award letter 5 days after the deadline...which I believe is the day I finally submitted all the stuff.

Ehh this need access application is busting my balls. Every time I think I have everything squared away I find one extra piece of information I have to hound my parents for.

It's a bitch.

I'll just add to the chorus of SLS being generous . They totally blew away the other members of the triumvirate and got within sniffing distance of some of the full tuition scholarships from the lower t-14. I deposited 5 minutes after getting my aid email. From my understanding, they can be harsh on people with spouses w/ income though.

Hmmm... thats good to hear. I'm hoping they take into account some extenuating circumstances or I'm gonna be screwreddddd.

Also, I like triumvirate ... I'm gonna start using it.

I'm gonna go out and say it... take 20 seconds and look it up online (re the layout); however, in sum, the answer is no.

I'm gonna bring my car, and I'm gonna live in Munger

Nope, it depends on financial aid and my experience with people at ASWs - although I am leaning SLS :)

When you get into HLS, what will you be thinking?

I'd be interested in hearing how other people are leaning too! I think I'm about 95% SLS. I really can't see how anyone wouldn't fall in love with the place. I can only think of two drawbacks: NFL starting 10 am and not being able to work at Pearson Hardman, and I think I can get over both of them.

spicyyoda17 wrote:At Stanford last year it was $37.5k, which is about $5k lower than the expected HLS loan.

At HLS if you are married they divide your assets in 1/2 and then take 1/3 as your per year student contribution. Anybody know if SLS does the same for married students?
I don't remember the exact figure but the base for 2011-2012 was 32-33k-ish at Stanford. So it went up last year by quite a bit.

Hopefully they bring it back down.

Not sure that I ever got an acceptance email... only the package which I got two days after the phone call.

As a side note, I think financial aid offers should start going out soon, no? Last couple of years it was on the earlier side of mid march

News from Dean Deal, in response to a financial aid inquiry I made earlier in the year:

"Regarding financial aid, we are completely need-based here and we just today (3/12) started reviewing paperwork for aid packages ... We'll start getting aid offers out later this week."

Hope this post helps relieve some of the financial aid anxiety on the thread. :D
