Hello Everyone! I just got a letter saying I was waitlisted. Anyone else in the same boat? Also, does anyone know how often they go to their waitlist?

Status checker said that the decision letter was mailed on 2/5 for me, and I have due dates for the deposits so I am assuming good news.

158 / 2.8 / Great softs, life experience, and a masters degree. This is my first choice so I'm excited. Hope there is some scholarship info in that packet.

In with 16K scholarship. Look forward to meeting some of you in the fall.

I also got in with 16k. 157 and 3.68. Obviously GPA is worth nothing here...

It's probably faux pas for me to post so many times in a row, but a professor from Willamette emailed me and I asked him about the supposed scholarship stacking, he said that's absolutely not true, and that the registrar randomly assigns sections. The award amounts are confidential and don't leave the admissions/deans office.

Been waiting since 1/9 with no update on status checker. I hate the waiting game. I've gotten some pretty good offers, so while at the beginning of the cycle I thought Willamette was in my top 5, can't say that it is now. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted though! I always liked their admissions people when I got a chance to talk to them at consortiums.

I had friends who went to Willamette law; they are having a very difficult time finding a job post-grad. One kid was basically at the top of his class too. If I had to go to a law school in Oregon, it would be Lewis and Clark, and even then only on a large scholarship. If you go to Lewis and Clark, you can at least network and work in Portland while going to law school. You can work in Salem while attending Willamette, but the jobs there are fewer. Not worth it at all, IMO.

Yes everyone, please don't go here, and if you got a large scholarship offer I would withdraw as soon as possible ;)

And the hits just keep on coming. With only a 52% scholarship retention rate, it is very likely if you are offered a scholarship, you will still get hit with a HUGE loan bill.

Willamette tuition:
2008: $27,495
2009: $28,330
2010: $29,680
2011: $31,130
2012: $34,570

From 2008 to 2012, Willamette increased tuition by $7075.
I wonder what the tuition will be for 2013.

Super excited to be attending. I've been to three events for this school now and I left each one a little more ecstatic.

I was just accepted! My wife and I are planning a visit this next week to check it out. Are you from the area? If you're up for it, would you mind sharing a little about your three visits (positives/ negatives). I would really appreciate it since I haven't been to Salem in years and have never had the opportunity to visit the school. Thanks!

I mailed in my deposit yesterday, and am very excited to attend Willamette next year! Does anyone know what the housing situation is like in Salem? I am very unfamiliar with the area, so I would be interested to know where the law students typically end up living.

The first event I went to was the open house. There weren't a lot of potential students there, I would say 30 to 40. The atmosphere was great though, the faculty and current students were all very friendly and genuine. The 3Ls seemed to be happy about their choice and had a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I know that the point of these events is to impress, but I visited another school where the current students all looked tired and run down and didn't have many great things to say. The campus is gorgeous. I love the old brick buildings and the river running through campus. After this event a prof. started emailing me. He answered all of my questions with extremely long thorough answers. Including my slightly non polite ones asking him to compare willamette to yale and verify if willamette stacks their scholarship students.
My second willamette event was a reception in seattle. There were about 5 potentials and the other 40 people were mostly alumni and students. The alumni are great. they all seem to know each other. I met a retired wa supreme court justice, she gave me her card and told me to call if I ever need anything. She also practically offered a 3l a job (they had never met).
I went to the preview day last week. I saw a 3l and prof from the seattle thing. Both recognized me and talked to me extensively. The mock classes were great, the professors seem tough but supportive.
For me the negatives are the weather, i was hoping for a change from the rain, the city, parts seem slightly ghetto, i was told to make sure you get a place away from the train tracks, and the ranking. Willamette is the lowest ranked school i got into but im not too worried because of the strong alumni network and the fact that i want to practice nearby. Also, the adcomms let me negotiate my scholarship up 33% to match my highest offer.

Thank you for the information. It helps me out a lot since I will only have an opportunity to visit once before making my final decision on whether or not I will attend. From what I have read and from what you have said, it seems like a pretty good place to live and study law. I spoke with a professor at my college (who has been a practicing attorney in Oregon for many years) and he says that Willamette Law has a pretty solid reputation throughout the PNW. My wife and I are pretty excited to visit. We are hoping that Salem will be a good fit for the both of us. Thanks again!

Great. Well I hope you love it! One of the students I met has been super helpful and she lives just a few blocks from campus. I could give you her contact info if you want. I'm definitely looking forward to august. When would you be moving?

I hope we enjoy it too. I will message you on here next week and let you know how the visit went. I may want that student's contact info from you. It depends on how the visit goes. I'm not sure when we would be moving though. I would like to attend the Intro to Law summer course, but the starting date has not been posted yet. So if I don't end up attending that course, then we will more than likely end up moving towards the end of July. That would give me some extra time to work before starting school. Enjoy your weekend and thanks again for the info.

I want to attend the Intro to Law class too. I hope they post the date soon, my boss is expecting me to stay until August 1, though I'm sure she would understand if I left earlier. I made a facebook page because I couldn't find one. Everyone is welcome to add! https://www.facebook.com/groups/WUCL2016/
