Willamette c/o 2016

Post by atay » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:10 pm

I don't see any posts for this school yet... my status checker says file complete and I submitted 12/1. Has anyone heard anything or plan to go to the open house next week?

My status checker says decision rendered as of today.
The only way I will attend this school is if I get a full ride scholly.
I am planning on attending the open house next Saturday.

Yeah, I already got into Seattle U which is way better ranked, but I work in a law firm and they tell me that in reality ranking doesn't matter that much once you graduate law school. That is, unless you want to go into corporate law which I certainly don't. I didn't get the small town college experience for undergrad so I figure Willamette is worth checking out. Thanks for the reply!

With tuition at $35k, this is not a strong offer. Additionally, 67 of 140 students lost or had their scholarships reduced 2011 because of stips.

Don't most schools just redistribute the scholarships though? So if you do well it's actually possible to increase your scholarship? I'm still waiting, when did you submit?

Did anyone have their status checker take FOREVER to update? Mine went complete on 1/9 and it's stayed on 1/9 for the past 16 days...I'm considering phoning/e-mailing them monday and giving them a gentle nudge lol

On LSN some people have already gotten acceptances, they started coming out on 1-14. Here's hoping the next wave of acceptances comes to us! Good luck!

Willamette stacks their scholarship students in one section, so by operation of the curve, a large percentage of them lose their scholarships every year. Just something to bear in mind.

I don't know about redistributing later.

That seems pretty underhanded. Source?

That would explain why 67 of 140 students lost their scholarships last year.

Hm, yea I wonder what their stips are on their schollys. Still, I've met with their admissions people on more than one occasion and the school really appealed to me. I just am not a fan of not knowing where my application status stands lol, though I've heard some schools never update past complete.

Did your status checker ever say UR? or did you go straight to decision made?

I did not see it change to under review. Doesn't mean that it didn't. I don't check them every day.

At the open house this last weekend I asked admissions specifically where they were and she said that they were into the November/December applications now.

I took the December LSAT and she said that I should have a decision by mid Feb.

Status checker said that the decision letter was mailed on 2/5 for me, and I have due dates for the deposits so I am assuming good news.

158 / 2.8 / Great softs, life experience, and a masters degree. This is my first choice so I'm excited. Hope there is some scholarship info in that packet.

I did apply to SU, and will be attending there. My schollys have been all over the map. From $0 to a chance at a grant to couple k grant and schoolyard all the way to a full ride. Glad I ordered my preferrences prior to getting my acceptance lettters.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
