1) Schools are holding on to applications much longer this cycle and have made far fewer decisions than they had by this time in previous years.
2) This cycle has
definitely been demonstrably more friendly than the last, especially to splitters.
3) People forget just how bad it was a few cycles ago. '09-'10 was an absolute bloodbath for splitters. Check out this profile from that cycle.
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/tommygunn That guy would have some excellent options this cycle, but got dinged across the board that year.

Jesus, that hardly seems real. He'd probably be looking at NYU and possibly UChi or CLS this time around. Timing really can be everything.

I would guess that guy had some C&F issues. But 09-10 really was a brutal year; there were plenty of splitters getting dinged at everything above NU when they could be competitive for CCN this cycle.

Plenty of counter examples from that cycle:
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/ohioanincalifornia
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/chinny123
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/Panglossian
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/shimoochiai
tommygunn clearly had some huge red flags on his app, lots of people with similar numbers performed just fine in '09-'10. I don't think there is any substantial evidence to say this cycle has already been demonstrably more friendly to splitters,
but it may look that way after waitlist movement this summer.

OK i just searched the same numbers this year, and looking at the people who applied early and have already heard back from everyone it is actually looking noticeable... Wish I didn't have to retake and apply in Jan
ETA: may still end well for us late submits of course

Well can't really say about this cycle, but here is a comparison of 09-10 (top) vs. 11-12 (bottom)
GPA: 2.0 - 3.49
LSAT: 170 - 180
No URM
No ED

Numbers are pretty ridiculous...
09-10 Applications: 759
09-10 % Acceptances: 20.7%
09-10 % WL: 35.7%
10-11 Applications: 605
10-11 % Acceptances: 31.9%
10-11 % WL: 39.8%
ETA: looks like raw data only has unique application IDs, can't pivot out by applicant... but applications were down 20.3%

Won't know till WL movement is winding down. So far looks like we're all getting held/WL where we'd expect. But no matter what happens Pedestrian got Yale, so this will go down in history as the greatest splitter cycle ever, even if the rest of us don't over perform.
For me at least!
I will enter all my numbers into lsn at the end of my cycle, but I suspect that I will either inspire thousands of wasted dollars in futile application fees or people will assume I'm trolling.
Otherwise my cycle has gone about as expected though - in at NU and GULC, dinged at Berkeley. Otherwise either WL or headed that way. I won't ride out any waitlists, obviously, but I'm a little tempted to wait and see how the rest of it plays out.
definitely going to get accused

UPDADTE: I applied late submitting applications between 2/20 and 2/25.
168/2.99
GW- Accepted 3/4
Denver- Accepted 3/4 w/$$
GULC - Accepted
GM- Pending
Gonzaga- Pending
I was accepted today for the part-time. I also had my last completes on 3/1 and 3/4 but did not have an interview. With a sub 3.0 GPA, I was rather surprised not to be wait listed. I believe I required a boost from the following:
1. Appling ED: With GPA I did not expect to get a scholarship from GW or GULC nor did I expect to be admitted. But I thought it was worth applying ED because you never know. I also did not receive any scholarship offer from GW but I barely received my acceptance.
2. Appling PT: I am not willing to give up my job
3. Peace Corps & Other Public Service: My acceptance letter had a nice handwritten note about my service and joining them at Georgetown where they share my commitment to public service.
4. My job: I have been lucky enough to work in Federal Contracting. I see many JD in the DC area trying to get jobs doing what I do. In general legal work is not thought to offer much of a boost on TLS, but because I believe I received a bump from it.
Please just cross your fingers for me I get accepted for the scholarship - non GULC - I applied for. I think I will be needing it.

Did you apply late? We have the same numbers. You should be good for most of those schools.

I did...didn't take the LSAT until December. Applied around 1/7 to all.

I think the real take away from the back-and-forth bantering about who gets in with what numbers and which cycle is easier should be that applications may just have a lot more depth to them beyond a GPA/LSAT combo than these threads generally acknowledge (time out of school, ps, undergrad institution -- yes, ivies and top lib arts grads generally do better as splitters -- difficulty of UG coursework, ect.), which is why you can find examples and counter-examples of just about any number-driven theory about any cycle

3.3 169 here. Going to have to apply super late which sucks but hopefully I have all of my apps in by the weekend. All of my reach T14 deadlines have passed except for Georgetown. Going to throw apps to most of the T1/T2 schools in the midwest, and if I don't get a good scholly somewhere will probably wait and apply next cycle.

Agreed, but looking at a substantial number of splitter cycles can show legitimate trends from year to year. Of course we are all just one data point ourselves so the trends still probably don't have the predictive value we tend to give them.

I believe there was a separate reverse splitter thread, but at this point I doubt anyone has the energy to care.
Are you a URM? That's an awesome cycle for those numbers.

Haha, good to know and agreed!
Non-URM. Some decent softs (great internships and leadership in uni, 2 years abroad WE). Interviewing definitely broke the WL trend when my LSAT was lacking.

Nice, congrats! Always heartening when non-URMs outperform their numbers.
