Anyone know anything about supplemental stuff? Is it possible to send in another LOR or anything else?

173/3.6x undergrad/master's. Pretty stunned! Looks like numbers are all similar, too.

Read this: --LinkRemoved--

It seems you should only submit updated transcripts or resumes if there is any substantial update to report.

"Additional letters of recommendation are not necessary."

Anyone know the percentage of people who get accepted after being held?

Nope. If you have nothing to do this weekend you can go through last years thread, collect the data, and figure it out. But that would be time consuming.

I don't know why I'm here, I'm pretty much an autoding. But, glad to be in good company!

Held today too. I was really expecting an auto-ding so even though I know my ding is coming at some point in time, I'm very flattered to not be flat out rejected the moment they looked at my numbers (3.4x, 170)

Hey folks, 1L at HLS here just wanted to let you all know that Harvard does accept people who get held. I know because it happened to me last year.

Just update your file with a well-timed LOCI if you haven't sent one already, update them about any big achievements, submit any additional recommendations if you have any good ones, and wait it out.

Good luck.

Specific details as to why Harvard Law is your favorite law school.

Ex: I'm really interested in the legal and policy issues of net neutrality because of X, Y, and Z. Harvard offers an unparalleled academic and clinical education in this area due to Professors A, B, C, the Berkman Center, and the Cyberlaw Clinic. If admitted, I would undoubtedly attend Harvard Law School.

If you don't have any specific reasons, then don't send one absent big updates for your application (awards, GPA boost, etc).

When would be the best time to send LOCI? ASAP?

Thanks for the links. Actually I went through the threads of the last three years when Lavitz made a comment about holds before New Year's. It seems like there are two groups that get held. 1) Competitive applications that for whatever reason didn't overly impress them. In the past some of these folks have received interview invites as early as January. 2) And then there are some applications that are held because it seems that Harvard just didn't get around to finishing whatever process they have before rejecting. Harvard uses the hold very liberally, even putting people on hold in the middle of April, by which point it is effectively a waitlist.

I don't know if we can figure out what the odds are based on TLS because a lot of people don't report back about their final results. But it doesn't look good.

In general, going through these threads is oddly reminiscent of reading Anne Frank’s diary. There is much baseless optimism even while conditions become gloomier. And then the story comes to an abrupt close, leaving the reader to infer the ending.

BTW: For those who have not been held yet, there is a gem on page 13 of the 2011 hold thread that belongs somewhere here. Someone might want to bring it over.

One more thing: This is Harvard. The only kind of optimism we are really entitled to is this kind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qULSszbA-Ek&feature=related.

Good luck to all.

Im sure there have to be some, but take solace in the fact that of the below both median crowd you were well liked enough to not be dinged.

Before I get killed for a sunshine pump I have very similar numbers to some ITT. I just didn't submit till last week.

I'm above LSAT median, but my GPA is going to eventually get me dinged at Harvard

When would be the best time to send LOCI? ASAP?

When you have something of substance to say and can say it well.

After that, I don't really know. I would think it's better to get it in on the earlier side.

unfortunately this seems to be correct. Looks like the most likely outcome of a hold is a WL and after that a ding.
