2012's spreadsheet (page 4 of the 2012 held thread) had more than 150 people on it..

i actually thought 50 was relatively low personally. esp for the amount of hls admits gone take sls and yls and their giant class

yeah this is a pretty dead crew. i think last years bloodshed has dampened the enthusiasm.

I think it depends on where you stand in the held pile. def sense there are two types of "holds", the near admits and the very distant possibilities. people like me haven't cared to check or be involved since they will obviously pick off the people like you first: not everyones chances in here are even, its much like waiting for the initial pre-hold decision but just significantly worse chances for everyone.

I wouldn't place you in either of those bolded categories... affirmative action changes the whole game, never know how many underrepresented kids they will need so if I were a betting man I'd say if they held you, your shot is as good as it can get here. if enough of their admitted minority students chose new haven, palo alto, or a sweet deal over cambridge, your in.

looking at last year, I'd say its about 5% vs 60% vs 35%

Is there a projected timeline based off early cycles? Because a "hold" is not waitlist, or really a decision either way, so at what point do they clear out all the holds or at least the majority of them? I understand waitlists may never end...but holds? when!?
