I can't stand NYC, but it's the best option thus far (unless Chicago happens b/c I'd have $0 CoL). I'm positioning myself for maximum flexibility. The thought of living in NYC for 3 years really grosses me out. I spent a summer there and the streets literally smell like crap.
Lol, this is credited.

Looking forward to getting out of the city for a bit.

or you can just hold off on signing a lease if you think you have a good shot - HLS usually shows very significant waitlist movement and the NYC housing market is extremely liquid/efficient

would give up an apartment lease and "ect." for Harvard in July here. just sayin.
If JS gives me the wink and the gun, all I have to do is renew my lease. In fact, I'm really counting on HLS to keep me from having to move all my furniture in August.

Yeah, I mean I have no idea how I'll actually feel until it happens, but let's just say I'm not counting on having to make that decision

I guess the nice thing is that for us pre-JS1 holds, we'll have to have a JS1 to get in off the WL so we'll know a little earlier if we even have a shot and can start making adjustments accordingly.

I think I read somewhere that JS1 -> Js2 wait becomes shorter as we get closer to classes. So that the people who get JS1'd in July might hear back in a day or two. Which is good in of itself, but I wouldn't count on having much time to plan once we get into summer

URMs make up more than 10% of matriculates, so good for those on hold for making the short list.

Its really nice to know that there are others out there who took the held email to mean you are to put your lives on hold. or just take tentative steps at life until that email/call

i think its fine to do this but also mentally need to accept that most of us will not get in at any point unfortunately

Thats what I am holding on to haha I hope this pulls us through. I am assuming that urms do better on the hold list? does anyone know that answer to this?

It just depends on how well the URMs already admitted do at Yale and Stanford and with Hamiltons and Rubensteins. The sample sizes for that are so tiny as to be impossible to predict.

anecdotally, there are entire "URM waves" of admits off HLS wait list each year, so i think they tend to do better

Gonna totally swipe the good feels and speculate that this somehow means a huge wave of post-hold JS1s are coming. yee.

I agree. Considering they are likely caught up on all of the previously untouched apps, I would imagine they will revisit holds this week and issue a small batch of JS1s soon.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
