Don't warn them. I like to make judgments on the people that do this.

half of TLS forum posts are douchey... if we disallow that and insecurity, you'd be down to only "cool avatar bro" posts

Re: PSA: Do not post your acceptance letter on Facebook
I didn't do it, but I don't see anything douchey about it personally. What's wrong with someone sharing their excitement? It's no different than posting a picture of your new car or your wedding ring on FB. Should you not do that since some of your friends may not be getting married or are using public transportation? Some of you guys need to stop being so insecure. Seeing something like this as douchey screams of either insecurity and/or envy.

The judgments should be made on those with such weak character that they are unable to be happy for another person's success.Grazzhoppa wrote:Don't warn them. I like to make judgments on the people that do this.
Everyone fails in life at some point. As mature adults, we all have to accept that we failed and be happy for those that succeeded where we did not.

Posting on Facebook is nowhere near as fun as telling people in real life about dat TOP-LAW-SCHOOL acceptance (or so I imagine)

I did it, but only once. Posting ALL my letters would be douchey and annoying.

The only thing cooler than being the guy who got into a top law school is being the guy who got into a top law school and acted like it was nothing.
Ok, so there are cooler things to be, but you get the idea
There are kids who post every single acceptance. To me, the only acceptable law school admissions statuses are 1) non-specific "got into law school" with a sarcastic comment about how foolish they were to accept you, and 2) the school you ultimately go to with as "school x class of 2030!"

Re: PSA: Do not post your acceptance letter on Facebook
summary of this thread's consensus: post the acceptance to the school you're attending on your own fb wall, and then the acceptances to the schools you're not attending on walls of friends who didn't get into that particular school.Typhoon24 wrote:Make sure to tag your friends that didn't get accepted in the post so they can share in your happiness.
i feel like this combo method is effective and personalized, and shows great attention to detail.

It's exciting for a lot of different reasons. Not everyone can be a cynical and jaded TLSer.

Re: PSA: Do not post your acceptance letter on Facebook
Uploading an acceptance letter shows too much time spent. You want to just convey your excitement, not how much time you spent thinking about how to impress your Facebook friends. I'd think a simple status would signal enough without being overly douchey--as long as it's your dream school of course. E.g.,
