Congrats! Applied 11/9. Accepted 11/27. Full tuition scholarship (King Scholar Program).

GPA: 3.93
LSAT: 170

I applied because I'm a Michigan resident but I'll have to wait until I hear back from other schools before I make any decisions.

My friend got this last admission's cycle, he was >3.0/151. He was wait listed until the third and final round. This was late summer 2012 but by then he had committed to another law school, where he is currently at.

My guess is that either they like you but are just below competitive OR you're an out-of-state applicant and want to ensure that you have a genuine interest in MSU. Either way, do your research and talk to someone who attended MSU (undergrad or grad) that reflect your academic and ethnicity to get a good perspective of the school and can create a solid essay on 'why MSU'. Good Luck!

My guess would be: 34k (tuition) : 2= 17k. But I'm not 100% sure :D

I'm out of state with 3.13 162. I'm just not in the mood to write another essay.

Got asked to write this essay as well (OOS as well) and I'm not doing it. I guess if they are using the essay to identify OOS students who are just applying to MSU as a safety they are doing their job.

Got into GSU yesterday, so my jimmies aren't rustled.

As an out of state applicant, I was asked to write this essay as well; I already sent one in by return email, so it will be interesting to see how long it takes to get a decision now that they have extra info.

I applied to MSU as a safety last year was asked to write a Why MSU as well. I was admitted with 75% about a month after submitting a bs letter. The funny thing is I will probably end up going to MSU because the schollys are stellar compared to similarly ranked schools.

it's true. let alone the initial scholarships, there are those incentives of getting certain GPA's or higher for an increased scholly the next year. in the acceptance packet there are stats on how many students retain/increase their scholarships, and it wasn't as small of a percentage as i expected.

Applied 9/2
Accepted 11/19

Stats: 3.36/159

Half scholarship + an extra 5K for the first year.

I applied because they have so many different focuses, clinics and the new Talsky Center. And recently rising in the rankings doesn't hurt either. Or the low cost of living in Michigan.
