I've said this before on here, but I'm trying to stay positive. I keep telling myself that I would have been rejected by now if I had no chance.

I would think that they know it's getting to be crunch time for those of us still waiting. They have to know it's killing us right??? Come on SMU!
I kind of keep telling myself the same thing. What gets me about the "under review" thing is I applied early decision, held for further review 1/28, and then completed 4/5???
Totally get what you're saying. I can see this as a type of "invisible" waitlist as some people have mentioned. I don't want to accept that, but I can very well see that being where we're at. By the way I applied 2/4 and went completeD 2/26.
Well maybe on this "invisible" wait list our chances of getting accepted are better than we think.

The deadline for first deposit was a week ago. They allow people to mail checks in. Give a few more days for them to stop waiting for checks, and they should have a clear idea of the first wave of people they lost. I'd guess this Friday and next week there should be a lot of action. Sadly, that isn't soon enough for most of your deposits at other schools.
That's what I keep telling myself, I mean as far as this forum goes there haven't been any offers since the first deadline.

Most people attending will pay by credit card, who still use checks these days.

Not sure how to respond to that.. Quite a few people use checks still and as long as they expect a single person to use a check, they have to wait.
True, and for all we know they could have granted extensions to some people as well.

Not to get too personal and all, but how do you feel about that?

Disappointed, I have been an applicant since late September. It has been a long cycle for me. I really just want it to be over, and I really want to get in. They will be getting an LOCI. They give you the option in the email to reply with interest or to be taken off.

Well that blows. It's something I guess but I know I would be disappointed with that too. Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the LOCI. Do you know what you're gonna write about?

I know a few people will use check, what I mean is they probably have a very good idea how many people intend to attend after online deposit deadline.they absolutely don.t have to wait every single check to come in to make the estimate

I have no idea.
I'm sorry, that sucks. Regardless of everything else, it sucks that you applied so early and waited so long just to hear that you have to wait longer. They could have been courteous and told you a while ago.
Thank you that would have been nice.

just check out the old thread, 2010. 2011. Most wait-listers are in even in a superb position to negotiate money, some of them pulled big bucks from SMU more so than regular admits. It is sad and unfair to see law school doing this, but it is just reality. So don't lose hope!

"Withdrew" (let deadline pass) and know multiple others who did too. Hope this moves things down the ladder! :)

Did this as well, and I hope it helps y'all out. I really liked SMU, but the money wasn't right.

if you already absolutely know this school is not right for you, why don't u just shoot an email to withdraw? Why do you have to wait until the deadline pass? :?

I think it is pretty common for people to be contemplating their options right up until the deadline. That was the case for me, and I have also learned of instances where schools have increased scholarship offers to those who have not paid the deposit to entice them to do so.

I know. I didn't mean to blame you. That is why my pre-condition is "already absolutely knew SMU is not right for you". it only took less than a minute to withdraw to free some spots for other people. :D

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
