Hi all,
Does anyone know how much the law books actually cost? It says $2000 on the SMU Law website and I'm just wondering if this cost is inflated at all.
Thanks!

New through the bookstore, $2K is spot-on. Some careful use of Half.com and Amazon used books will get you there for about $1200.

So sorry you were waitlisted...but it's better than a deny! Plus, Im sure lots of people will withdraw as other offers start coming in. Like someone else said, if you check lsn, some people who got admitted later got in with more money. Probably a combination of money being "freed up" by people who withdraw later, and them trying to actually fill the seats. Either way, remember that once you're in, it won't matter if you got in in January or May (it's just stressful right now) . Hang in there. Hopefully, you can convey how much you want to be at SMU in your LOCI as you have conveyed in this threadcrchildress wrote:I was waitlisted this morning via email.

Hey all, thought I'd write a post to vent!
I applied early and was held for further review. Status date 1/28....
this is getting really frustrating! Is anyone else waiting for a decision email/letter?
Also, what do you guys think about U of Houston?

Thank you and it is definitely better than a deny. I sent my LOCI late last night, and they wrote back this morning saying it has been added to my file. So hopefully it will help.nirvanah wrote:So sorry you were waitlisted...but it's better than a deny! Plus, Im sure lots of people will withdraw as other offers start coming in. No update still since 3/25, hopefully there will be movement soon now that the first deposit deadline has passed. Hoping there's some money left over after after withdrawals for some of the late applicants.grenades13 wrote:No update for me yet. Still at completeD.

That's my hope to ChadMichael. I've stopped checking status checker. I lurk here but that's pretty much it. Hope I get a call soon.

Hope we both do, I still don't know when decisions come out after "Application Completed" but it's been a little over two weeks and if I'm accepted it will be worth the wait. Withdrew from a lot of schools before their deadlines so more applicants wouldn't be going through what a lot of us are right now haha.grenades13 wrote:*****crchildress - Thanks. My application status changed to "Application Withdrawn: Deposit Not Paid" today, so I hope my place and scholarship money goes to a TLSer.

I was waitlisted. I set up a tour of the campus that is coming up shortly. Any advice/questions I should ask etc?

Well, thank you for freeing up your spot. Which school did you eventually decide on?rshw89 wrote:My application status changed to "Application Withdrawn: Deposit Not Paid" today, so I hope my place and scholarship money goes to a TLSer.

When did you find out about the waitlist if you don't mind me asking?mandimeoutof10 wrote:I was waitlisted. I set up a tour of the campus that is coming up shortly. Any advice/questions I should ask etc?

Can anyone explain the difference between Application Complete and Application CompleteD. Apparently I've been at Application CompleteD since 2/1. I called admissions yesterday and they said they hope to have all decisions out by the end of this month, but even that's not a guarantee. Kinda sucks for me cause I applied sometime in January and this has been the only school I've been waiting on for weeks now.

Application CompleteD in most cases have meant they have made a decision, but just are not ready to tell you what it is.Dr. Daniel Jackson wrote:Can anyone explain the difference between Application Complete and Application CompleteD. I bet some of us get a decision on Friday. I have been "Completed" since December. I have heard from every school that I applied to and gotten in to better ranked schools. SMU is just notoriously slow.

Thanks. Making a decision and holding on to it for months probably means a ding for me. Oh well.crchildress wrote:Application CompleteD in most cases have meant they have made a decision, but just are not ready to tell you what it is.Dr. Daniel Jackson wrote:Can anyone explain the difference between Application Complete and Application CompleteD. I know SMU doesn't officially negotiate scholarships, but has anyone had success yet?
