I got an email last week saying they would make decisions starting this Friday and mail them from then.Greyhound42 wrote:Any word on when scholarships might be divvied out?

I have not heard anything, but based on my reading of the e-mail, I'm not sure they will e-mail when the offers go out. I'm thinking they might not have been mailed until today. So tomorrow or Wednesday we ought to check our snail mailboxes eagerly.

Just got a scholarship email. 30k. 2.0 stip. This all but seals the deal for me.

Oh man. Looks like people are hearing on the scholarships. I wonder how long we have to wait until we can assume that no scholarship offers are going to be made.

To be fair, they did say they would release them via snail-mail, so I have no idea why (some) of us are hearing via email just now.chowiechow wrote:Oh man. That's true. Though they did also say that they would send an email confirmation once the scholarship letter has been mailed out.nba101790 wrote:To be fair, they did say they would release them via snail-mail, so I have no idea why (some) of us are hearing via email just now.chowiechow wrote:Oh man. Don't worry about it. My email didn't have my name at the top and now I'm paranoid thinking that it was sent to me by mistake. Fighting the urge to call and confirm.chowiechow wrote:That's true. I was expecting Loyola to be the stingier of the Chicago set. 2.0 stip isn't bad, if I can't get that I'd drop out anyway.

I think 30k is as high as they go as they don't offer full tuition. I may try to negotiate but 30k is 75% off tuition, so there's not much wiggle room anyway.
Out of curiosity, did your email mention your name or was it just a form letter?

In with only 10k/year merit. Was hoping to get wwwway closer to Kent's offer as Loyola is my top choice. Has anyone heard back from specialty scholarships? I have a fellowship interview next week, but even with that I'd need a little more money for Loyola to edge out Kent.

Does Loyola negotiate? Just wondering if anyone has any experience (presumably from last year).

They do on occasion offer full tuition, but I have no idea how it is decided. Im currently a 3L at a different school, but when I applied in 2010 they initially gave me a 10k scholarship, I withdrew and stated that it was because I didnt get enough $, and then they came back offering 100k (40k first two years, 30k third year). My lsat was above the 75th percentile, but my gpa was below the 25th. Non-urm.nba101790 wrote: Congrats.

Thanks for relaying this. I'm going to try to push for something close to full. Given the slight ranking drop, I could see them possibly offering it as I'm above both 75ths and am already pretty committed to going. We'll see. If I have success negotiating I'll post it here.moandersen wrote:They do on occasion offer full tuition, but I have no idea how it is decided. Be careful with the bold. Thats one of your bargaining chips. If they already know you are coming, what incentive is it to them to give you more? Good luck though. If I wasnt so sick of the Chicago weather, I would have taken the full ride to Loyola.nba101790 wrote:Thanks for relaying this. I'm going to try to push for something close to full. Bernstein finalists were selected. Novak scholarship should be determined by the end of the week. I assume that means they are trying to get all the specialty scholarships out this week.
For what it's worth, I am most impressed with Loyola's attempts to meet deadlines and communicate quickly. Not every school has been good about this.

Got my scholarship offer yesterday via email. $15k per yr, 2.0 stip. Not completely thrilled given my numbers AND considering their 9 spot drop on the new rankings.
I'll definitely be negotiating this to see if there is a possibly better deal.
