I think this is the case. I know a few people of my class ('12) who got in a week before classes started.

How is that even acceptable?

It's pretty normal at every school from what I've gathered.

Pretty sure they are talking about WL here onionskin. I've discussed this several school reps and they all echo the possibility of week of orientation acceptances.

I know, I'm on the WL. I would really not want to have to fork up the full $700 seat deposit at USD while I wait for UCH to make up its mind about me..

yeah, my numbers are pretty low/borderline. i'm a non-URM minority but 160/2.8 (solid GPA addendum though).

You shouldn't go to either.

Try to look at the $700 as a fixed sunken cost of keeping your options open. Once you're making $100/hr, it will be the equivalent of less than one day's work.

Waitlisted

2.81 163.

What do you guys think, worth waiting it out? I'm in at Northeastern only so far. Waiting for 6 other schools.

Anybody have any idea how their waitlist works? For example, do they take a while to respond or does anybody know how many they take off the waitlist?

Hastings has always been a tough one for me. I've always liked it, love SF, really like the academic programs, but downtown SF COL is not for the faint of heart, and at sticker most likely for us riders...

I'm 160 3.17, science undergrad from across the bay...7 years of quality work experience.

And cheers to all the waiters! ;)

Commuting from the east bay is possible. I did it for a year with no difficulty, and COL is better in the east bay.

Oh totally, I lived in Berkeley for a few years, and lived right next to the El Cerrito Bart station for a year too, not too bad, but full sticker and questionable job prospects...I did love living in El Cerrito though.

Would people who get off the waitlist be considered for need based aid?

I was taken off the waitlist and given the maximum amount of need based aid.

WL'd a month or so ago. Kind of strange as I was accepted w/merit to Davis. Anyways, after seeing what a joke the fin aid results for you guys was, and the new employment stats, I'm out. It's been fun, but there's just no way I could live with myself to borrow $200k+ to go to a school that has worse numbers than a school that I could attend for ~$30k.

Best of luck, SF is a wonderful place.

Hello all! First time finding this site, wish I had found it sooner...

Through some perhaps ill-advised reasoning, I applied to only one law school this cycle, UC Hastings with 3.0 undergrad and 164 LSAT. I did not apply elsewhere because I anticipated retaking the LSAT and applying broadly next cycle. To my surprise I received an acceptance email. On the surface it looks like sticker price. In my situation are there any ways to lower tuition costs?

going to assume you meant lower costs. Did you not get any need-based aid? They won't be handing you out merit aid trust me, they don't even give 170s merit aid it seems -_- You could also try for the Patino Fellowship, which is an 8k/year scholarship if you are into community service and have a record to show for it.

Nope. I tried though - they basically just reiterated what we heard at the financial aid seminar. Future 2L, 3L aid + PICAP + their location/reputation

._.

Thank you, yes I meant lower. I don't think I applied for need-based aid and I have no community service record. But thanks for the insight.
