I'm basically in that same boat. I would say that overall I have performed much better than I expected this cycle but all along I thought I would be WL->Accept at UVA and possibly Penn and maybe luckbox my way to a CCN WL->accept. This blog has a great page on writing LOCI's. I described a few specific characteristics of the school that I like, calling out a particularly clinic and explaining why it makes sense with my background. I then updated my application slightly, describing developing responsibilities at my job and other 'outside of work' activities I've been involved in.
