Checking in -- I threw an app their way, mostly because the school isn't too far away for me, relatively speaking. I sent it first week of November, last update was "Complete" 11/19.

I always hear the selling points of the school, but I would like to know what students find annoying or just plain dislike about the school, if you don't mind.
Thank you for offering advice!

Re: Drexel c/o 2016 (2012-2013)
the scholarship maintenance is essentially top 50%
it is reviewed every year, not after every semester
the school is only about 6 years old so alumni base is lacking
but, they have made some strong ties with firms in the city and a lot of 1ls last year got PAID SAs
other than the scholarship issue, i really haven't encountered anything that bad here
(but keep in mind, i've only been here for a few months)

Applied 11/1. Status is still File Received - Complete 11/2. Hoping to hear something soon as I haven't heard from any local schools yet (Temple, Villanova, Rutgers)

i don't think they are going to get to the vast majority of applications until after xmasSoJerz13 wrote:Applied 11/1. Status is still File Received - Complete 11/2. Hoping to hear something soon as I haven't heard from any local schools yet (Temple, Villanova, Rutgers)

And I read my scholarship offer wrong the first time, apparently... it says "an expected first year value of $39450.00,"... but tuition is only a little over 36k? Is that right or am I misconstruing something? This is my first acceptance so I'm not sure how this works, if anyone wouldn't mind helping out

Re: Drexel c/o 2016 (2012-2013)
Well, I'm an undergrad here and I can tell you the law library is crawling with obnoxious, noisy undergraduates from 6 pm-onwards (when they open the floor up to everyone) every night because the law library is really just the top floor of the university's (incredibly small) library and Drexel has an enrollment problem and literally can't fit everyone in. I refuse to even apply here for law school for this exact reason.kjones0127 wrote:What's the thing that you like the least about drexel?presidentk1 wrote:1L here if you guys have any questions = )

Seriously, I wouldn't do it. These people have no respect and there is poor enforcement of the noise/talking issue, but they will take any morsel of food they see out of your hands.
Disclaimer: yeah, I'm a little biased.

Only thing that concerns me is job prospects after graduation.

Thanks. Congrats to you too! I also got the call the day after the e-mail. I have a strong belief that if you want to work in the Philly market Drexel can put you in there, especially with their co-op programs. On the other hand if you are looking to break into NYC or DC that's another story...
Still going to wait for responses from other schools and maybe try to negotiate some more money though.

I hope you are right. I have a strong desire to work in the Philly market. I also have some relatives that work in some pretty big law firms there. So I hope drexel can help me with that.

Congrats! I called the admissions office. Apparently they're taking all the accepted students to a basketball game on January the 5th. I think I'm going to go. So hopefully I'll see you guys there.

Congrats on the full ride! If the basketball game happens, I'll be there. Drexel is only like 15 minutes from my house. I'll also be at ASW if I don't have a work conflict that weekend.
