I was never asked to interview, so I have no idea.

Most of us who got interviewed were done so way earlier in the cycle in the Fall/early Winter. But I think everyone who was invited for an interviewed was admitted. I dunno about the people who requested one on their own

This thread is way too long, but did anyone get rejected? Also, does anyone have to pay their deposit soon?

I mean yes..people got rejected, but those people don't post in this thread anymore really. Deposits were due July 1st for regular admits, i dunno what the timeline is for WL-admits

I sent my application in January and requested an interview in February. Was admitted during the interview.

It looks like our class size will be around 180. That email today from Rebecca Brown had an excel file attached that listed all the individuals who had put down a second deposit.

GULC sent out an e-mail today, to our GULC e-mail accounts!, addressed "Dear Rising 1Ls"--this definitely feels premature. It's reminding me of that day in 5th grade when we went to tour the middle school down the road as future 6th graders. I wore my FAVORITE skirt and thought I was SO COOL.

I'm going full frontal nudity. You should do the same.

For those of you starting to think about supplements and books.

Oh, and for those of you looking for ways to save money, don't spend much on books. Used, Amazon, upperclassmen, even old editions (at least for supplements) are your friend. I know people who would buy brand new books from the bookstore every semester and always had the latest and most current supplements and shit like that. It's beyond silly and it has no correlation to grades. For one class, the grade was 100%-dependent on a seminar paper, and the readings were fairly pointless. Rather than drop $150 on the newest edition of the book, I spent $5 on the old edition. Got my second highest grade in law school. Obviously don't do that for 1L textbooks, but seriously... but my point is to be smart and don't go dropping a fortune on books.

You can spend ~$300 a semester on books if you're smart (maybe a little more as a 1L), probably an average of around $500-600 a year, which comes out to a few grand in savings over your three years since they budget you $2,000 a year for books. Real easy way for you to start chipping away at that expected COA.

A quick post on supplements. This is just one person's opinion - obviously there are many ways to go here. And I only had some professors - maybe other 2L and 3L's that lurk this thread can chime in.

Your first semester you have Torts, Contracts, and Property.

Torts - There really isn't much to Torts, as far as knowledge goes. I'm not quite sure how much help a supplement would be for this. That being said, the E&E is decent for some practice questions, and in my opinion, worth it entirely for the chapter or so at the end of the book where Glannon talks about exams. If I recall correctly, he goes through many of the common mistakes that law students make on exams, and it was probably the most useful thing I read on taking law school exams, including anything on TLS. (I might remember this incorrectly, my copy of the book is 800 miles away). Your mileage on using the questions in the E&E may vary - I wasn't a big fan.

As for other supplements - really, Torts is pretty simplistic. 'Specially if you get Goldwasser, who only covers intentional torts and negligence. Tamanaha will cover a lot more material, but maybe someone who had him can say if a supplement will help.

Property - I found Sprankling's Understanding Property to be pure solid gold. It knew the law better than my professor did. If you have Konig, Sprankling's is everything you need to know. Read the relevant sections from Spranklings as you go on in class, and it will prevent you from being super confused as Konig changes his mind on what the law is. (I think he'll be better this year though). I only browsed the E&E a bit for Property, and didn't use it at all. If you have Mandelker, god help you. I don't know anything about Dinner except for the fact that she gives out too many high grades.

Contracts - I loved the E&E for this class, although I read it as a 0L. I had a slightly earlier version then the current one, and I believed the old version was organized in a more sensible fashion. The questions and explanations seemed to be more in depth and useful then in Torts, and I think it could be useful for exam prep. I didn't use any other supplements other then what was required in class - Contracts will be very professor specific.

For your spring classes, I think it's relatively simple - For Con Law (especially if you have Magarian), Chemerinsky is simply essential. For Civ Pro, Freer was amazing. The law has changed a little bit recently for both Con Law and Civ Pro, so you might want to pay attention to versions. Saving 35$ now is a silly idea if your book being 3+ years out of date costs you a single point on the exam. I don't know if Chemerinsky will have a version that has Sibelius in it, but if it did I would consider that essential to get. Civ Pro I would definitely get the latest version.

Crim Law is very professor dependent also. I found Dressler to be very helpful, but you won't have the same professor that I did.

Seconding what Hoos89 said - you will never, ever, ever want those casebooks again. If you can do the rental thing for ~70-80 bucks, do it. I managed to do that for 5 of my 6 classes, and it fit my laziness perfectly.
