Re: Eternal, Never Off the First Page, WUSTL is the Best Thread.
Your UT offer is still by far your best offer. Since you'd be crazy to attend WUSTL for what they are offering you, of course you should ask for more. Worst case, they say no and you still go to UT. Best case, they offer more.BOOM SHAKA LAKA wrote:Hey everyone.
I sent a negotiation letter and just got upped to 20k/yr. Would it be bad to.... like... ask for more? Or is that usually the final offer?
Thanks,

My philosophy is to always ask for more until they outright refuse.Randomnumbers wrote:Your UT offer is still by far your best offer. Yes. I've been waiting for about 13 months now, and I'm almost done with my 1L year. But don't worry, they assured me I'd get an answer before my other deposit deadlines.dstars823 wrote:anyone else still waiting on a response for a scholarship negotiation?

Yep. I'll probably follow up in a few days once they have a feel for who withdrew today and how it will change the level of interest in my numbers.dstars823 wrote:anyone else still waiting on a response for a scholarship negotiation?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think WUSTL's approximately 0 SCOTUS clerks were a factor, as well.sublime12089 wrote:Above the Law publishes rankings alternative to USNWR

WUSTL ranked 25. Likely dragged down by Fed Clerkships and Cost, which account for 22.5% of the score between them. It does not appear they took average scholarship into account, which would have mitigated the cost a bit. Sticker at WUSTL is insanely priced.

Welp, just got a slap in the face for a scholarship increase after about 5 weeks of getting strung along. They just gave everyone and their mother tons more money after their initial offer, but I guess I waited a few days too late and they "ran out" or something. So many people with much much worse numbers than me got way more money than I did, and I'm more than a little bitter because I was genuine about wanting to attend at the right price. They never even made it cheaper for me to attend WUSTL than UT, which seems ridiculous to me. I loved the school and many of the people I met at ASW, but I'm just baffled why they showered so many others with such generosity but waited over a month to give me the tiniest token increase.
Ultimately it seems clear that they locked up the median LSAT they were hoping for a while ago, and are now focusing on GPA. I really enjoy this thread and most of the participants are awesome, it was a fun ride at least. I withdrew and asked for a deposit refund just now, later folks.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a pretty shitty situation, and sometimes it's hard to understand why a school throws money at X candidate and not Y candidate. And the making you wait 5 weeks for nothing is especially hard to swallow.WokeUpInACar wrote:Welp, just got a slap in the face for a scholarship increase after about 5 weeks of getting strung along. Regardless, I'm sure you'll do well at UT, and I wish you well.
