I wanted to issue a friendly reminder to everyone that in addition to your FAFSA, do not forget to fill out the Wash U financial aid form as well.

I've had a real hell of a time getting the specific breakdown of my loans, so if you have not done this already, now is a good time to start!

ETA: OP has been updated reflecting the above information.

I'm going to do my best to be coherent, but I'm a little slap happy from insomnia.

I know I'm a little late on this, but the ethnic food in St. Louis is awesome!

I currently live in an area with a lot of ethnic options, a large influx of well traveled people, and immigrant families from all over the globe. I have been educated on how to properly appreciate the different styles and trying spicy unique flavors. Prior to living here I was pretty much bland meat and potatoes with a love of barbecue ribs (which St. Louis style is still the best). Now I have been taught how to enjoy a wide variety of things, and cook some of them.

When I was back in the St. Louis area a few months ago, I used this knowledge and I think the place was called Ginger Bistro, but it was great. It was a combo Asian place. Spouse loved the sushi, though apparently there was no eel option. I'm allergic to the seafood world so I can't give any input on that, but they had a delicious kim chee fried rice and beef option, so delicious.

Salam market is a middle Eastern restaurant/halal market. It had amazing falafel.

Next time I'm in the area, I'm after a Tapas style restaurant. I am totally open to suggestions.

So, decided not to just write another university off based on being in an expensive city. Checked craigslist for apartments.

Basically why I didn't bother to apply to GW this year and why I asked for six figures from GULC

The website below will give you a quick way to look at what your money will likely be going to in major areas. I think it will actually be useful to a lot of you looking at different schools.

Yup. But the same thing happens in NYC and also some areas of Boston and Chicago. And if you start looking at apts in LA for USC/UCLA you get equally depressed

Yeah, the only schools that trump WUSTL on just the cost of living are Vanderbilt and Emory because I could live with family. But LOL at me getting any scholarship from them.

Emory? I could definitely see you getting decent scholly from Emory. At the very least you could try to use any WUSTL scholly you get to leverage money out of them.

Not that that'll be a concern during 1L, at least. More like, "shntn, you didn't come home again last night!" "Yeah, library, more coffee, now..."

But yeah, I've been fantasizing about having my own office in St. Louis. I study a lot better with dedicated space. (No, I don't need a shredder or inbox/outbox, just a TLS-free zone.)

I was thinking about that a lot actually. I'v been living alone for the past 7-8 years or so and now I'm contemplating getting a house with other 1Ls (wherever that will be :| ) just because I think it'll help me get motivated about doing work and will also give me a little big of an experience

Eh, I think living alone or maybe with one roommate is the way to go. For me, anyway. I need to be able to do my thing without being distracted or worried about anyone else.
