Then again, I've become awfully reliant on all this amazing vegan food and reasonable coffee...

I can't speak to the availability of vegan food, but as to reasonable (and good) coffee, St. Louis has it. Kaldi's is a local phenomenon, and their roasts are fantastic. We have a lot of independent roasters here that make small batches of fresh coffee. So, in summary, St. Louis brewers and coffee roasters are excellent. Also, there are many ethnic food joints, and everything from good pizza to fancy dining.

Thanks for the heads up. Kaldi's does look pretty legit (i.e. - there are pictures of hipsters covered in tattoos pouring drip coffee, which bodes well). I should schedule another interview with Krystal Orr now that I'm a bit more sold on the coffee side of things in St. Louis, correct?

DC and NYC ties are substantively worthless. Especially NYC ties. But yes, the better analysis would have been "No jobs anywhere. Ties just means you'll do more interviews on your way to underemployment"

Ever since the Georgetown scholarship emails went out, and a lot of people were not selected for merit aid, that thread has died. Now all that remains are people asking the same questions about group interviews, # of updates, etc. It's kind of sad.

But that's why we have the WUSTL thread!

Ever since the Georgetown scholarship emails went out, and a lot of people were not selected for merit aid, that thread has died. Now all that remains are people asking the same questions about group interviews, # of updates, etc. It's kind of sad.

But that's why we have the WUSTL thread!

I still can't believe they did that. Granted I have a personal bias because i was one of those that got burned...but there must have been better ways to turn us down for scholly. Whatever, I withdrew and now the schadenfreude is getting the best of me and I hope GULC gets shafted in terms of class size and medians.

Didn't feel like waiting it out to see if you could get some money once the initial wave of scholarships went out? I understand. That kind of waiting is frustrating, and they probably won't even get to that group until well into March or April.

Lol I might have, but i only applied cuz of a fee waiver...and I regard all D.C schools as trap schools unless you're going for free or something lol

The wait is much less stressful when I try to convince myself that 1) St. Louis isn't really that much more affordable 2) the only beer and coffee available is Bud and Starbucks 3) there's no vegan options in the Midwest and I'd starve for (at least) three years (though having toured the Midwest about a thousand times, I already know this one isn't true).

In the past hour I've found Kaldi's, Black Bear Bakery, Perennial Artisan Ales, vegan deep-dish at Pi, and even vegan chicken sandwiches available at Busch Stadium. Jerks!

I'm going to assume that there are no good bookstores in St. Louis, there isn't anywhere you can safely cycle on the weekend, and that the internet has yet to make it to town. Everyone that knows otherwise: shhh...

Can someone please steer the conversation back to vomiting in McDonald's so that I can return to my peaceful wait?
