I paid the deposit at multiple schools last year. It's unfortunate because that's probably the best way to truly maximize any opportunities from scholly negotiations . Few schools will give you an increase on your scholarship before a first deposit, partly because a lot of schools don't even release scholarship decisions until like Feb/March anyway. You may have to commit to spending the money to deposit at a combination of schoolscrossingfingers wrote:Did you deposit or let the deadline pass? Also, WUSTL's first deadline is slightly earlier than a lot of other schools, maybe by 1-3 weeks. If you're lucky they could boost your scholarship at some point between their deadline and other deadlines, so you won't have to pay for several.

Yeah, duh DP. It's on the OP:
May 1 First deposit may be refunded if the Admissions Office is notified in writing, starting the request for a refund. After this date, all deposits become non-refundable

Yup! But I'm not sure how many ppl do that..unless they have a significantly better offer somewhere else. Just because it's difficult to wrap-up negotiations in April, since every school has different deadlinesdproduct wrote:Also they give a full refund of your deposit if you withdraw until May 1,cusenation wrote:Oh wait...nevermind. For the Wash U-specific fin aid application, I'm currently on the 'Prelaw School Aid' section. Would loans taken out by my parents go under 'Family and Personal Contribution' or 'Other Loans and Resources'?

I'm not sure but I would say other loans and resources. Family/Personal contribution implies that you or your family paid for those costs out of pocket. It's probably more accurate to say loans/other resourcesandy261 wrote:For the Wash U-specific fin aid application, I'm currently on the 'Prelaw School Aid' section. I feared this. I certainly get that it's worth it to submit multiple deposits in the long run, but it doesn't make it any more fun trying to come up with the money in April. I guess I should be thankful to those schools who waitlisted me and spared me the April deposit decisions, hah. Thanks for this and all the other helpful input!cusenation wrote:I paid the deposit at multiple schools last year. FWIW I did not negotiate last year because I didn't have any better offers but I probably should've tried anyway. I got an initial offer of 84k and they upped it to 90k without me asking for anything in late April or early May I think.
