Indiana-Bloomington Class of 2016

Post by michaelm55 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:36 pm

I don't believe anyone else has started a thread for this school yet. So who has applied? Have you heard anything yet? Also, could we get some updated pictures and medians? Thank you, and I hope everyone has a successfull admissions cycle!

Good luck, guys! Just finished my UG at IU and can't have picked a better place to spend 4 years. Oh yeah, and go Hoosiers!

So Thriller, what is your personal impression of the University? What are your career goals? Is the school meating those goals? I am interested in social policy (affirmtive action, education, economics, etc.). What sort of resources are availiable to pursue these interests?

First, just to clarify, I am an undergraduate. With that being said, I love Indiana. The university is awesome and if you are a Kelley Business kid (I am not) your life is pretty grand with plenty of job opportunities. The campus is beautiful and our basketball team is #1 (which may or may not play into any decision on whether to attend IU).

The law school is right off of Kirkwood, which is where all the restaurants are and where Kilroys (my favorite bar) is. It's also only 3 blocks away from the city square (5 minute walk).

As for my career goals, one of them is to pursue a career in the legal field (hence why I am on TLS!). But I am currently a Classics major and originally wanted to stay in the academic bubble/become a professor. However I have been offered a few jobs in the development sector for non-profits and art organizations. I have yet to make a decision about law school. Came to TLS with a dream and have gotten scared that my life will be ruined forever when I graduate.

In regards to the school meeting goals, I think that if you take it upon yourself to use the schools resources, you will be fine. Although I can't say a whole lot about the LS, all my professors have been awesome and more then willing to help with anything.

If you are interested in economics/business, I would consider a JD/MBA. Although the Kelley grad school isn't as good as its UG, it may be of interest. Other then that, I really can't offer much in the way of scholastic information. However, I have spent the considerable part of the last year at the local bars and can enlighten anyone who wants to know about those things

My status changed from "File Complete - No Decision" to "File Complete - In Review."

The current status date stayed the same though, so I'm not sure exactly when it happened.

I did as well. Hopefully that bodes well for us. This is a very top choice for me, and with significant scholarship help it would become all but a no-brainer. Anyone else feel like they're about to take a hit in the rankings come March? Not that it would make a huge difference to me, but either way.

Also, in case it's of interest to fellow applicants, I went through last year's thread and it seems like the majority of admitted applicants who went "in review" last year at about this time had decisions rendered about two weeks later. Hopefully we hear good news before the holiday break. Best of luck to all.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout, crossingfingers. Thanks for the research.

Do you know how they inform applicants?
