T-tunes and fee waiver if you apply with a good LSAT. T-Shirt if you get in. Good Luck! :D

Cool. I guess it will come down to where you want to work. Good luck with your decision.

Got a call from Alabama today. They upped my scholarship from 18k / year to 26k / year. That brings the tuition cost down to $7k per year. I wasn't expecting Alabama to be able to compete with my offer of Emory w/ $$, but now I'm going to spend all weekend stressing out over whether the savings is worth moving to Tuscaloosa.

Are you also factoring in COL? There is a big difference between Atlanta and Tuscaloosa.

This may help a few folks when dealing with residency issues...

I came to Tuscaloosa and purchased a home and I proved that I was working in Alabama and paying Alabama state taxes and they automatically gave me in state residency. I never had to pay out of state tuition once. It was the state taxes more so than the purchase of the home, just so you don't think you have to make that kind of investment. I came from Georgia, so the one having to make the Emory/Alabama decision it may come in handy so you don't have to come up with anything out of pocket if you can find a way around it like I did.

Just received the unfortunate news via mail that I have been rejected for Fall 2013 admission. :-(

Does anyone know if there are any steps I could take to potentially take to see about getting on a Waitlist, or are my only options to retake to the LSAT and try for 2014?

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know if you can join the waitlist without being offered it. Did anything change on your status checker to indicate the rejection? Did your status change to decision rendered or did you stay PFCD, etc?

Nothing has changed on my status checker. It still says PFCD on it.

Did your status date change to 4/24/2013?

Uh oh... This has to scare anyone with a 4/24/2013 status update (myself included). Looks like the dings are beginning.

Yeah, it sucks sharing this kind of news, but I wanted to be able to update everyone and let them know Alabama's process is finally underway and people should be hearing a thing or two here soon. Best of luck to everyone else.

As someone who was rejected back in 2011 via e-mail (because my snail mail was lost, if you can believe it) I offer my best wishes and good luck to those who have been or will be rejected this cycle.

decision rendered today. I'm assuming denied since they are sending a hardcopy letter. But idk. If my conclusion is wrong, please advise.

Also not a big blow. I'm WL at ND and UMich so i'm riding those out with above average hopes.

For the people who received 40% scholly stips, are you guys out of state? Kind of random question, but I was curious b/c I'm in state and my scholarship came with a GPA stip rather than a class placement one, and also b/c when I went to ASD the students who conducted my tour told us that UA does its rankings by top 15%, top 33%, top 50%, and below median. If you're not in the top 15% you don't get your specific percentile rank, just that range. I wonder if maybe they misspoke and meant top 40% instead of top 50%. I'm really just being nosy and trying to see if there's a difference between how they try to woo the in-staters vs. the out-of-state people (at ASD Becca mentioned how happy they are to have people from the state keep their talent in state).

GL to all those still waiting!

Yes. I am out of state.

I talked to a current student who did not meet top 40% first semester, so they obviously do tell you by that cut off.

I would assume that's probably the case (in state vs out of state) as they attract a LOT of in state students obviously.

They also were not willing to negotiate the stip, but if i gain residency, I don't lose my scholarship.

W&M just notified their waitlisters that they have received enough deposits to fill their class. I would be willing to bet Alabama is the same.
