You can try to use it as leverage. But my understanding is that Pepp really only sees the other similar (and better) LA schools regarding negotiations. So if you have LMU, try to leverage that. Overall, what works with them usually is just saying how much you want to be a part of that culture, but the affordability is what is holding you back from being able to attend Pepperdine, especially considering CoL.

Thanks for the response! I have $18k per year to LMU so I figure that won't be very effective in leveraging against Pepp's $20K. I may try using the BLS scholly and the fact that Pepp really is my #1 choice to get a little more money. Is it too soon to send a negotiation e-mail?

I don't think so. The sooner you send it, the more it seems like it is sincerely your top choice and not you trying to get the best deal at the last minute. And there is a decent contigent of students who have already withdrawn acceptances with $$$

I sure hope a new round of decisions come soon! I have been complete since 1/10. Sent it in around Thanksgiving. I am a reverse splitter and really should have taken the LSAT again, but due to a heavy school load and finals I chose not to. So far I have Loyola, Seattle U, U of Pacific, and Gonzaga. I am really hoping for Pepperdine due to the awesome Veteran's program. Has anyone heard lately??

My guess is if you haven't heard at this point, you will be finding out when they do their huge round of acceptances in mid-March, or when they do their huge WL/deny sendout

I hope it's in the Mid March Acceptance pool! Very slow moving compared to other schools. Same thing with USD!

I have to say, the way Pepperdine has been reaching out makes it much more appealing to me. A professor made a personal call to me today and said he'd be love to meet. I think he referenced things in my prompt response. Have others had this? I really wish the school was closer to where I live.

I had a really similar experience, it was a relatively nice touch hearing him discuss personal aspects of my application/background

I've had a very similar experience as well. I spent about 30 minutes talking with a professor on the phone, and he also said that he wanted to meet me in person when I fly out to Malibu to visit Pepperdine's campus this Friday. I am definitely getting the vibe that the faculty genuinely cares about the students at the law school.

Admitted, but no money whatsoever. I suppose that is to be expected as my LSAT is below median, but I have significant offers at Denver, Loyola and William and Mary. Any other reverse splitters have success negotiating with Pep?

Congrats! I'm a reverse splitter still waiting to hear myself and expecting no money. I've heard they are not great at negotiating $$.

I don't think I will since I just made a trip out there this weekend, but I would recommend a campus visit to anyone seriously considering Pepperdine. The campus is amazing, and the people are really nice. I was lucky enough to witness their annual dodgeball tournament, which was a very entertaining sight to behold.

In! Have a good offer from Loyola, though, and the location and proximity to courts and firms really appeals to me. We'll see if this admit comes with $$$. :)
