I agree with Boris just as a matter of maximizing opportunities. At SMU you'd likely be competing against all of your classmates for the Texas market. At Emory, even if a lot of ppl wanted Texas, very few would be true competitors since not everyone would have ties. Emory also opens up more back-up options if Texas doesn't work out.
I guess this could all change if you're in at UT-Austin (not sure if you are or if you applied)
But between Emory and a more regional Texas school...I'd say Emory. Even T14 students have to hustle/network to break into markets that their schools aren't dominant in. In light of that I'd say go with the school that gives you the most options. You already have Texas ties and therefore a viable claim to the Texas market (certainly not a guarantee, but it's something)
