That's a good question. I'll go check LSN and let you know.

Why the shocked faces? Not being a jerk, but genuinely curious. Are these numbers really low for Emory or something? Sorry if I sound like an idiot, I'm not super well-versed on great numbers for each school.
they're being sarcastic because LSN, or lawschoolnumbers, is VERY well know on TLS. lol

I'm pretty sure the 'faces' are because most of us have been neurotically following both the posts here and at lawschoolnumbers...luckily for antmcb91...she has not had this to occupy her every waking (and probably sleeping) moment since January!

Got an email from Ethan saying "thanks for your patience. hope to be in touch soon." do you think attending asw makes a difference? not on the priority waitlist...

Were you invited to asw? If you were then you are probably priority.
Can one even go to an ASW if not invited? My god that would be incredibly awkward.

To alleviate some confusion:
EmoryAdmissionDean wrote:Hello – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. My staff has alerted me that questions have arisen about the waitlist. Hopefully, this update will provide some answers:

Visits: Last year, when we notified wait list applicants of their acceptance, many students mentioned that it was difficult to make a decision having not visited the school. Thus, this year, we have invited small groups of waitlist applicants to various events so that we can examine whether we should host a more formal event in the future.

you can definitely go to ASW even if you weren't invited. there is no security measures from what i've seen.

It was great...Emory became my number one choice (by far) because of it. Now I just need an Acceptance! (Dean Rosenzweig, if you're out there-HINT HINT)

You would just be the weirdo walking around with no info, name tag, or swag (?). I guess you could pretend you are a guest. Pretty stalker-ish IMO.
Sounds like something Raffi, "El Cunado", would do. Bold, bold strategy let's see if it works Cotton.

This is in reference to WLers who did not get an invite and just showed up.

you could have signed up online and even could have received a hotel room! There was no code or anything you to verify if you were invited or not and the hotel links were on the website

I just called the admissions office. The person I spoke to said that the "talk around the office" is that waitlisted students will start getting phone calls starting today and continuing throughout the week.

Shocked faces because virtually all of the people on that site are TLS members (and virtually all active TLS members are members on that site). Was just amused at someone introducing that link to a thread of people who are probably all already obsessing over it 24/7.

Any waitlisters hear anything today? Was hoping for a call, but radio silence thus far.

I watched 12 seconds of that and subsequently withdrew.

This one is actually pretty good, but the message is undeniably bleak...

Hello – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, the dean of admission and financial aid at Emory Law. I appreciate your allowing me to post from time-to-time in this forum, and thanks to everyone who has reached out to me personally in response to these messages. With 1st deposit submissions completed last Friday, I thought this would be a good time for an update.

Waitlist: Continuing my luck with technology this admission cycle, I shouldn’t have been surprised that the LSAC admission portal was down for maintenance this past weekend. Thus, the time I set aside on Saturday to begin analyzing our deposits and waitlist was postponed until we regained functionality with our databases. I appreciate folks’ patience as we work diligently to finalize our class, and hopefully, invite several additional students to join our community.

When we issue admission offers to students on the waitlist, our normal practice is to contact folks by telephone. If we do not reach you, we will leave a voicemail message, and then, we usually send an email message as well. Once we extend you an offer, we ask for your response within 48 hours. In addition, once you begin classes with us in the Fall, we will credit your Emory student account the amount of a nonrefundable deposit (up to $250) you placed at one other school

I know how frustrating the uncertainty of the waitlist can be, and I am committed to providing as much information as possible throughout the process. I anticipate sending emails to our waitlist with specific updates every few weeks. If last year serves as a guide, we will invite students to join our community from late April through Orientation.

Deposits: I always smile when reviewing the list of students who have accepted our invitation to join the Emory Law community because we spend a lot of time reviewing files and getting to know folks. Thus, it is always very satisfying for me to watch the class come together. This year’s entering class will usher in the Centennial of Emory Law, founded in 1916, and I am very excited about the events leading up to the celebration. For those who have deposited with us, we will begin special communications with you next week as you begin your transition to becoming Emory Lawyers. Orientation starts August 12th with community service and team-building projects, and classes begin on August 19th.

Follies: For those who are perusing the vignettes posted from the annual Law School Follies, the Harlem Shake skit was filmed right by the Admission Suite. I won’t comment on the students’ dancing abilities.

I look forward to speaking with folks soon, and if you need anything, please never hesitate to reach us at admission(a)law.emory.edu.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
