Just got an increase in scholly from a higher ranked school, waiting on their 4/30 response... i know LLS won't match scholarships, is there any point in keeping them updated and letting them know?

I didn't bother telling them anything about my other acceptances/offers since I wrote my negotiation, but after getting accepted at ASU and UC Davis, I think I might have to

I figure even though they might not match the scholarships exactly, maybe they would take it into consideration.

Anyone watching the Webinar? I missed the first 30 minutes and am wondering what Dean Sherr has had to say.

I heard a while ago that students trying to transfer out of LLS after 1L can't participate in OCI (I might have even read it in this thread). Can anyone clarify this? Is it a policy that will be in place next year? I suppose the best place to go for this info is the original source; I'll put a call in on Monday. Has anyone heard this question addressed in the recent Webinars etc.?

Here's the Above the Law article about it: --LinkRemoved-- . It's from 2009 and Dean Gold said in the article that they were going to make changes to the policy. I honestly don't know if it has been changed or not. I tried to look it up on our website but didn't find anything. Your best bet is to just give LLS a call and ask :)

Got it! Yes, I have seen this, I had just forgotten exactly where. I do need to follow up on this, as I may want to try to transfer but also don't want to be left out in the cold for OCI.

Thanks!

You should never go to a school planning on transferring. There are way too many variables that are out of your control. If you're even thinking about transferring, take a year off and retake the LSAT. It's WAY easier to get into a better school by retaking the LSAT. It'll save you a ton of money and time as well. Or do what I'm doing. Put down a deposit here, and gun for a 170 this June. Then ED MVP. Profit.

Lol. It's funny because I was just reading the "never attend planning to transfer" mantra in the Hastings thread. This is definitively TCR.

I agree with everything you said whole-heartedly. I am planing to retake in June, although I have put in considerable effort for my current score so am not banking on a huge gain. Having said that, I'm also ready to get started on law school (I realize this would be short sighted if I gain substantially, though).

Having said all of this, I am comfortable with Loyola. Of course, if I do well and another lucrative option is a possibility I will submit a few transfer applications and see where the winds of fate take me. If I do well enough to transfer but decide to stay then that is fine too.
Don't worry, I'm not going in with the attitude that "LLS will work out fine as I will surely transfer to HYS as a 2L (or even USC/UCLA)."

Thanks for the heads up, though. No one should bank on transferring, or even on being top xyz%. All we can do is put forth our best effort and let the chips fall where they may. It is useful to know if transfer apps exclude us from OCI, though.

That's definitely the correct mentality to have. Yeah, if you're fine with LLS and are just pondering about the possibilities ahead of time, the transfer policies are of valid concern.

You got a 167. Why are you here?! Abnormally low GPA?
