Is anyone else worried about their employment numbers http://www.lstscorereports.com/?r=ca

Yes. Very much so. However, my worry of finding a job is not limited to LLS, but to California and the legal profession much more generally. I know I want to be a lawyer and I believe LLS is a solid school with a good rep. I do want to be able to make a decent living after school, though.whsy wrote:Is anyone else worried about their employment numbers http://www.lstscorereports.com/?r=ca
CA employment in general is a thread killer. Rough stuff.CO2016YEAH wrote:Ah, yes. The talk about job prospects is always a thread killer...
I believe April 15th for accepting scholarships, and April 30th for seat deposit. I may be remembering incorrectly, though.JadeWest wrote:When is the deposit due? When do you have to accept your scholarship before it is forfeited?
Sorry can't find it anywhere. I'm useless.
I don't know how they could possibly know, unless they are cyber-stalking you and able to identify you from your TLS posts or they have an insider at the law school where you deposit.lovelaw1 wrote:Would the school know if you put in a seat deposit at another? I'm on the wait list and would like to issue a deposit elsewhere in the event I don't get off the wait list.
I think on May 1st / 31st.. forget which, LSAC releases to all the schools where you have deposited. so yes, they will see.lovelaw1 wrote:Would the school know if you put in a seat deposit at another? Seriously? How does LSAC know? Don't you deposit directly to the school?JadeWest wrote:I think on May 1st / 31st.. forget which, LSAC releases to all the schools where you have deposited. so yes, they will see.lovelaw1 wrote:Would the school know if you put in a seat deposit at another? Even still, no need to worry if a school that didn't admit you sees that you deposited elsewhere. Are you to sit on their waitlist indefinitely while they decide whether they have space for you, while your forgo the opportunity to attend any other law school in LLS's absence?
Interesting. Is this from LSAC's website? I still say it doesn't hurt for them to know. If an applicant has accepted at a perceived "better" school or higher ranked school he or she might be less likely to be admitted off of the waitlist.JadeWest wrote:Multiple Deposit NotificationCO2016YEAH wrote:Seriously? Each year, law schools that participate in LSAC's commitment overlap reporting service provide LSAC with information about applicants who have been accepted and have paid a deposit or provided a verbal or written agreement to attend their schools. Each spring, participating law schools receive periodic reports detailing the number of their committed applicants who have submitted seat deposits or commitments at other participating schools, as well as the identification of those other schools. Starting on June 15, 2008, those reports will also include the names and LSAC account numbers for all candidates who have deposits/commitments at multiple participating schools.

However, if Lovelaw puts down a seat deposit at another school and sends a LOCI to LLS indicating a continued desire to attend LLS (perhaps even acknowledging the other deposit), I don't see how the seat deposit could be a liability. It is true that another seat deposit could show a resolve to attend law school even if that law school is not LLS, but holding out for a desired law school and eliminating the possibility of a back-up plan, I think, would be seen as foolish (and this would be foolish, if someone actually intends to have a seat at a law school come August). This is all simply only my opinion, of course.
That's what an LOCI is forlovelaw1 wrote:
Thank you both for your input. I agree with CO2016YEAH. It would be illogical to not hold my seat elsewhere while waiting to come off the wait list at LLS. I mean, if I don't get off it, then what am I supposed to do? I just hope that it doesn't deter admissions from reconsidering my application.
I didn't have any luck... although I haven't heard of anybody who have been successful either. They didn't shoot me down, just told me to wait until they get closer to deposit deadline. Do you mind if I ask how much they're offering you?Redfactor wrote:People have had success.MASSattack1 wrote:So no one has had success negotiating more money from LLS, correct?
Withdrew yesterday, so that may open up a seat and some money for someone. Hope it goes to one of you!
I thought I remembered some going from 54k to 90k and from like 18k to 45k, too. What have they been calling the $96k awards?

Anyways, I had 54k but didn't attempt to get it raised. I was planning to but life happens and now it's time to leave the LA area and go back home to the 'ol PNW.
$10,000/yr, trying to get more though!whsy wrote:I didn't have any luck... although I haven't heard of anybody who have been successful either.
