I honestly had no idea about this. Did LMU send an invite to you guys, or did you find this through the website? I kinda feel dumb now.JadeWest wrote:Student Host February 21, 2013dproduct wrote:What is this student host day you speak of?radar714 wrote:any1 doing student host day on thurs feb 21st?

If you are looking for an opportunity to visit campus, be sure to check out our Student Host Program. These programs will offer you an opportunity to get an inside look at Loyola by sitting in on a class and having a lunchtime Q&A with both professors and current students. Tours and info sessions will also be available during these events.

I'm wondering if my campus visit on 01/18 had anything to do with it. After I finished the tour that day, I decided to inquire about my application's Incomplete status at the admissions office and ask some questions about the admissions process and the school. I really enjoyed the tour and told the office that I was very impressed by what I saw. Anyway, my status checker had been saying for a couple of weeks that I hadn't answered the question about whether my education had been interrupted (although I had indeed answered it). I was told that it normally takes some time for that bit of info to be updated online. They wrote down my name and said they would check on my application. Two days later, my status checker said I was Complete, and eight days later, a decision had been made.

For those of you wondering about things like Student Host days, they are posted on the website. Basically, it's a tour, plus you can sit in on a class. You can sign up for them online. Look under "Prospective Students" and then "Schedule a Campus Tour." If you want to sit in on a class, try to avoid the ones that start at noon. I did one like that in November, hoping to sit in on a class, only to find out everyone has lunch then. Fortunately, I was able to sit in on a Property class last week.

It says in the welcome packet that scholarships at Loyola come with the stip of (45-50%). Is that just special to me or is that actually for all scholarships?

Yup, all. It's why they can offer so many. Some people will definitely lose them. Scary thought.ManoftheHour wrote:It says in the welcome packet that scholarships at Loyola come with the stip of (45-50%). Is that just special to me or is that actually for all scholarships?

I don't think any of the Public Interest Scholars awards have stips. The only stip I had was good academic standing which they said was 2.33

I don't totally understand the question. Loltotalgleek wrote:im guessing they dont offer travel stipends for 'host days'
but they did give me money, anyone know?
thanks,

To my knowledge, there has been no mention of a travel stipend to anyone (but especially not me, since I'm in L.A.). By "they did give me money" do you mean that they have given you a scholly offer?
Looks like you've got a few appealing options on the table so far; are you leaning towards Loyola?

Unlikely. I've taken a guided tour to scope the place out, so it seems a bit unnecessary (but interesting). Ultimately, I have a final that morning and don't really see it working out.lt_universe wrote:Anyone going to the Student Host Day on March 22?

I won't be attending either. I've visited a few times though. I still wish it was at LMU's main campus in MDR. Ugh.CO2016YEAH wrote:Unlikely. You and me both. I love the marina, had a boat there last summer, and am hoping to get another. I still might. I was down there this morning and reminded myself how much I loved being down there. Still got lots of decisions I'm waiting on, though. Better to wait a few more weeks.dproduct wrote:I won't be attending either. I've visited a few times though. Re: Loyola (Los Angeles) c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Thinking of sending a letter of continued interest due to the fact that my application has had no movement in quite some time. Genuinely, Loyola is my #1 at this point and if it were fiscally realistic, I would be willing to commit. If i were to send them a letter, should I explicitly say that? Also, is it annoying/overzealous to send a letter at this point?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
