Still planning on applying, but an admissions rep is visiting my school next week so I'll try and see if I can get a fee waiver then. UMD is one of my top choices though if they can offer me a decent package hopefully, I would love to stay in Baltimore.

What's your opinion on the atmosphere? How're job prospects looking?

I like the atmosphere. The students seem friendly, and I've not seen any gunnerish tendencies in my classmates. It's getting near exam time, and so the stress levels are rising, but I've not seen any one biting someone else's head off. The teachers encourage you to ask questions and to come to office hours. There's always something going on, be it club meetings or events - you won't be bored.

As to jobs, as a 1L, the school just started talking to us about preparing for job searches, so I'm not sure how prospects are looking (I don't think we can get into the job postings system until Dec. 1). There was an information fair this week, and one of the firms told me hiring was probably going to be better, but that they wouldn't know for sure until the time came to actually start hiring. The school has been upfront with us about the difficulties of finding a job in this economy.

Overall, I'm glad I came here.

Applied 11/13. Status checker received today - app received status. Hoping to be under review soon. When did Maryland come out with their first decisions last year?

--> Went under review yesterday 11/16

Been under review for about 2 weeks. Any idea on how long they usually take to render a decision?

Same exact thing here. It was in the last sentence, so I'm hoping they didn't notice.

+1. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is the update before they send out the acceptance letters tomorrow. 8) Also, your 168 is golden.
