My husband and I were talking about next summer and it occurred to me I could very likely end up paying two rents during the summer if I get an internship/whatever elsewhere. Is it normal for a law student to look for a 9 month lease? Is it difficult to sublease during summer?

Hmm, someone on LSN has already posted they've been offered scholarship money. Maybe more news will come soon?

Looks fake to me. For one, he is calling it a "full tuition" scholarship but instate tuition for the 12-13 year was raised to 18k. Did you also notice how he put the yearly amount for UGA but the overall amount for UT? :?

The e-mail was pretty clear about when notifications would begin. My breath is not held.

Hold up, JD is still 16k (LLM is 18k) but still totally fake.

Bummer.... I was getting excited. Haha

Gonna be visiting Athens and UGA Law in about a week and a half. What should I definitely go to/do/see/eat/experience? Never been to Athens and I'll be staying one night in town before moving on to my next stop, so I'll have plenty of time to take in whatever there is to see. I appreciate any guidance you all might have.

When I'm in Athens the one place I know I have to eat at least once during my stay is Cali N Tito's on Lumpkin. It's Cuban fare but doesn't accept credit cards. I'm sure people with more Athens experience will chime in, but that place is legit.

If you're going to be around for lunch (or don't mind paying a little bit for dinner) go to Last Resort. It's ridiculously good. Going out in downtown Athens for drinks is always fun. If you let me know what kind of scene you want, I can be more helpful with which bars to visit; really, though you can just walk around and find something you like.
If you're going to be here the 17th,18th,19th you should totally go see Drive by Truckers at the 40 watt. That would be the ultimate Athens thing to do. The music scene in Athens is pretty cool. There isn't much to do here, though, but sports/drinking/eating/studying.

PM me if you have any specific questions; I usually check this thread, but not always.

Does anyone know how UGA handles pending lsat scores? I'm retaking one last time in February in hopes of getting more money out of the schools I get accepted to. I am going to be sending my application in by the beginning of next week and most people with similar numbers to mine on LSN have been accepted. Will they hold my app until the February score comes in or review it right away?

No email. At least not yet. I just checked my status checker when I got home from work, so it changed somewhere between lunch and 4pm.

Accepted today via status checker. Which is extremely odd, given I applied nary a week ago. Freaking fast.

Since I have been out of the loop, what was the email business about scholarship info? Is there consensus about when the offers will come?

Congrats! They must have really liked what they saw. Guess that means those of us waiting from November-ish are squarely in the WL zone.

Congrats!! UGA sent out an email a few weeks ago saying it would be early February (within the first 2 weeks I believe).

Congrats to all the new admits! I don't have the scholarship email in front of me, but IIRC $ will roll out starting in February. I'm sure someone here has the exact text of the email.

Pretty weird dynamic happening at some schools where Dec takers who applied last week are getting in before Oct applicants (happened to me at another school, not UGA). Then again, I guess any movement is a good thing.

Eta: scooped on the $ email

The odd thing is, I completely failed at the retake. Felt sick during it, and felt sick after when I saw I had gotten the same exact score as October. So it probably has nothing to do with the Dec retake. More likely they are waiting for numbers they will pretty much auto-admit to trickle in before really crunching and comparing the rest.

Didn't get an email either. Thought it was kind of odd and thought I had misread the status checker. Best of luck though!

Noticed the status update changed around noon. Accepted! Like others, haven't received an email.

Update: I received the following email this morning regarding scholarships. Still haven't received the usual, "Congratulations, you've been accepted! Here are our ASW dates" email.

You have met the February 1, 2013 deadline and will receive priority consideration for a merit scholarship award. Scholarship decisions will be made during the first two weeks of February.

There is no separate application for scholarships. Awards will be made upon review of the application for admission. Additional materials may be submitted at any time and will be considered in evaluating applicants for scholarship awards.

Congratulations again on your admission to Georgia Law.

Regards,

Paul B. Rollins
Associate Dean
