lots of places for your bike to be chained. you might want to get a scooter.

I'd walk home down Lumpkin or Baldwin. I would walk down east broad until I hit MLK. it's not safe past the bridge separating MLK and east broad. it's not safe on west broad past holiday inn.

Is it safe to walk or ride a bike to and from the law school at night? Is there a place to chain a bike? Thanks!!

3L here - where specifically is the place that is half a mile away? If it's 909 broad, then yes, I believe that it is safe to walk at night.

It is between lumpkin and milledge south of broad but north of baxter so on the
Opposite side than 909 broad (sorry so sloppy im on my phone)

Newton, Finley, and Pope streets aren't the absolute best part of town, but you would probably still be ok walking. If it was me though, I might move to the other place and pay less money.. If you're not dead set on one of the two places you've found, then you could always post your housing requirements (budget, apt. vs house, bedrooms, roommates, pets, parking, etc.) and I, or I'm sure any other current students, would be happy to give recommendations.

Thanks! The one Im talking about is on pope st. But it looked like a nice area! The student i met loved living in them. I need a 1 but preferably 2 bedroom to myself. I have two dgs and one is a pitbull mix. I like townhomes bc i prefer sleeping on the top floor (safety). I dont want to send more than $900 and would prefer closer to $800. A yard or patio or terrace is a must because I smoke when Im stressed lol. The closer to campus the better I guess but since ill be alone safety is impottant. If you wouldnt mind looking at the exact 2 im talking about i can message you them when i have internet again.

If you have already checked out the area, and it looked nice, then I would go with it. Although I think the direction toward the downtown area is a nicer part of town, the area toward Pope should still be safe. If you ever felt unsafe, you could always walk down Lumpkin and then up Baxter, instead of taking a direct route across Newton and Finley. Also, I do think that will be one of the only places that you can find the type of unit you are looking for that is within walking distance. There are lots of cheap town homes on the east side of town, but that is obviously a drive.

Here are the pictures I promised! I couldn't get any of the inside since it was winter break. I think the campus is gorgeous! Oh, and a place called Mama Boy's for breakfast is TO DIE FOR!

This is the entrance way walking from the parking deck to the law school:

Law library, although it is way bigger than this shot suggests:

Last Resort brunch on Sundays makes Mama's Boy look like child's play.

So I heard from my mother that a friend's son received a letter from UGA placing him on the priority wait list. Not sure how reliable the information is. There are no waitlisters listed on LSN yet, so I wanted to check here to see if anyone else had heard anything about this priority waitlist. Thoughts?

A few days ago my status said "being reviewed by committee" or something similar. Now it says that I have not yet applied. Has this happened to anyone else???

Not sure. But I'll be calling to make sure everything is still in order. Seeing that "I need to apply" was definitely a surprise.

I am anticipating a waitlisting. I am currently working on a LOCI in the event that it comes. I would also like to send an updated resume with it because, in all honesty, my submitted one was not as sharp as it could have been. What can I do now and in the coming months to make it worthy of an update? I am currently unemployed and hoping I will have a job (times are hard!) to include, but is there something else I can do in the event that I am still seeking employment by then?

UGA 1Ls only get 2 grades Fall semester. Anyone else find that strange? That is going to tweak me out not having a better idea of how I'm doing! Any 2 or 3Ls care to comment on that?

we actually only got 1 grade my 1L year. it works out kind of great. you actually get better information about how you did in classes you don't get a letter grade and it helps you adjust for the spring. they'll let you look at your exam, tell you the rank on each, etc. plenty of feedback.

Thanks! I guess it just makes me nervous that those grades matter so much for our GPA. What is the curve?

Our curves were different for each section. generally B, though. It only matters for 1L SA seekers really. getting a 1L job in general isn't hard. at the end of the year they all count equally and that's when it really matters.

Mine is "fixed" not too. I was hoping it would be "fixed" to admitted, though. :)
