I like hearing that 8) . Good luck the rest of the way for you. More people need to do this so we can speed up the admission process

I just wanted to get little snapshots that I felt captured the atmosphere and architecture of the north end of campus. I do wish I would have taken better pictures of downtown. Sorry.

P.S. The picture of the arch is not mine. I couldn't take a good picture of it on Saturday because there was a concert going on and it was literally covered up by people.
Thanks. North campus/downtown Athens is a great area. If I end up at UGA, I'll definitely have to find a place nearby (but also a place that's not too expensive.)

Asked UGA for some more money and they came back with 3k a year, in addition to the Equalizer. Considering my GPA, I'm pretty thrilled. Going to visit Athens next week, but UGA is seeming like a really attractive option at this point.

Anyone know the max scholarship they give out to in-staters (hard to figure this out using LSN because all of the equalizers)? I don't think I've ever heard of a full ride, or more than 10K after in-state. Ideas?

Yeah, I see what you mean. The 82k and 75k should be full rides assuming they establish(ed) residency. There are some some other big numbers on LSN as well.

IMO, though, if your full tuition is under thirty (approx. 24k for 10k a year) and you have no previous student debt, it's really not that big of a difference from a full ride. 30k shouldn't doom you financially, especially at UGA. Their employment numbers are really good compared to peer schools.

Also, just mailed my seat deposit!
Congrats! Alabama should be sorry..

How did you find out about this, did they email you or was it through the regular mail and how long did it take for them to respond to you?

I asked them on my own... it wasn't offered. Sent them an email asking them to consider re-examining my merit aid this morning and they responded this afternoon with the new $$$. Its not a ton of cash or anything, but it definitely helps.

It's quite easy apparently. I hear the school is very accommodating.

Was really impressed with Georgia at ASW. They went straight to the point on all the main issues and showed off their beautiful set up. Athens was an awesome town. Overall a good experience.

Read this interview a few weeks ago and I thought it was really intersting. The website had an interview with a Dean of Admissions at UGA, and the guy they talked to goes pretty in depth and there is a lot of valuable information in there, IMHO.

In case anyone is interested:

Just got back from my visit to UGA and I really loved it. Everyone I spoke to had great things to say about UGA and it seemed like everyone loved Athens. Almost certain I'm going to be at UGA this Fall! :D

Has anyone heard any thing about "The Flats at Carrs Hills". Its a new development that is going to be open in July/August and they were offering what seemed like a good deal. Fully furnished, utilities/internet paid for, covered parking, and are relatively close to campus.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

$1200 for a one bedroom is literally almost double what I'm paying for a 2 bedroom townhouse. Even with including utilities, I think you could find a ton of better options with that budget. Glad your visit went well!!

Its not really that close to campus compared to other, cheaper options (if its really 1200, that price seems unbelievable)

The 1 BDR is steep... no doubt about it. I was looking at a 2BD for $750 a month (per person). Which for me, seemed okay but I'm comparing it to my last apartment where I was paying $650 for a studio.

The others I was able to see were like the Broad St apartments (909 and one other one) and those were expensive and unfurnished. And then I think I saw something else a bit out (Stonecrest??? something like that) for around $800/2BDR. Which was okay, not as nice, but not bad at all. There was another new complex, Eclipse on ????, that was in the $600/mo range but its a 4BDR unit which sounds insane.

What did you use to find the townhome, if you don't mind me asking?

I used bulldogrent.com and a few other sources to get ideas, Zillow, and googled a few webpages of rental companies in the area. Athens is pretty cheap. I move around a lot (military) and I always try to get an apartment comparable to that area rather than what I'm used to-- but maybe BAH taught me to do that. In DC, I rented a tiny apartment for $1600 a month, not including utilities or furnishings. Here at Bragg, I have a huge house for $925. My townhouse in Athens is 2 bed 2.5 bath for $675 and is only 1/2 mile from campus, and that is me having the entire space to myself. Point is, you will absolutely be able to find something great for your budget. I don't know how much 2 bedrooms are at 909 or 755 Broad, but I remember their 1 bedrooms being a bit more reasonable than $1200 and you will be winning with the proximity and (I assume) older neighbors. There are also lofts downtown, etc. that rent for around $700 to have the place to yourself. Check out bulldogrent and do some searching and I'm sure you'll find something! Shoot me a PM if I can be of any help.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
