As far as apartments, I'd like to mention my home for the last 2.5 years, Athens Highland. Its a bit hidden I guess because most people haven't heard of it, its a gated community on the east side. Its $575 a month for very spacious 2-bedrooms with large kitchens and tons of closet space. Very quiet and safe (I understand that wont appeal to everyone, the quiet part). Mostly grad students and some small families. It has a great bus connection into town that matches up very well with UGA law's class schedule (classes :30 to :20). Especially for older students with SO's/family this is a great place.

Rising 3L, REALLY bored/tired studying for finals. Out of state originally, hit me up with any UGA Law related questions.

Thanks for taking questions jarv1506.
As an out of state student did you find any difficulty when applying for jobs in GA?

Re: University of Georgia c/o 2016 applicants (2012-13 cycle)
No problem. I had no problem at all applying for jobs. The only time I've heard of it being a problem is if you're applying for a job in a REALLY small town. Generally though, those firms want people from the immediate area, not just GA in general. So if you've got your heart set on working in Valdosta or Brunswick you're probably going to need a local connection or a good reason for living there. If however you want to work in ATL its not a problem. At every interview you'll get asked: Why UGA? and Why GA? You should have a nice canned 2 minute answer to each of these questions. ATL is a pretty awesome city so its shouldn't be too hard to convince someone you want to live in the area. As for why GA? Be honest, why do you want to live in GA? Generally firms are just making sure you're not going to bolt the first time you think you can move somewhere else. You'll get a chance to do a mock interview with some Big Law attorneys if you want, so they can tell you if you need to change your answers at all. So being from out of state isn't too big of a deal.Pippen33 wrote:Thanks for taking questions jarv1506.

Not sure if this is exactly the proper spot for this, but if anyone is looking for a roommate next year, shoot me a PM. I'm looking at furnished places near Downtown, and for the most part they seem to do roommate match, but living with a Law Students seems like it would be better. OOS, 21/M.

Re: University of Georgia c/o 2016 applicants (2012-13 cycle)
My application has been under review since 2/6. I figured I would have been waitlisted by this point since the first applicant deposit has already been due.
I sent an email last month regarding a possible decision time frame and received the generic response. I figured I should probably send a LOCI. Does anyone know what to make of this?

If y'all haven't gotten the idea from this site already, read 'Getting to Maybe' over the summer. It'll really help.
