K&L would pay around 100k, I'd imagine.

Perkins Coie - $115k

Lane Powell - $110k
Klarquist Sparkman - $105k
Miller Nash - $105k
Tonkon Torp - $105k

I'd think more than that if Orrick is at $145k.

Fair enough. I would be surprised if they are an outlier though. They have no incentive to pay that much, and I don't know why Orrick pays that high. Its a tiny office too, I would be surprised if they bring on a new associate annually.

I want to know what they blew money on, which lead to them needing to raise tuition 8 grand in 3 years.

Imagine if you were a 1L in 2010 with a $10k annual scholarship.

It is not just Lewis and Clark, the other two Oregon law schools had significant tuition increases as well. What is troubling is there is no corresponding increase to scholarship medians offered.

Willamette tuition:
2008: $27,495
2009: $28,330
2010: $29,680
2011: $31,130
2012: $34,570

University of Oregon tuition:
2008: $19,596
2009: $20,570
2010: $22,328
2011: $24,031
2012: $28,354 (almost an 18% increase from the year prior!!)

From 2008 to 2012, Oregon increased tuition by $8758, Willamette increased tuition by $7075, and Lewis and Clark increased tuition by $9146.

Those prices are criminal. UO and Willamette should both close down. It would make L&C much more competitive, and job outcomes would be better. The fact that these three places charge this much for a ~40% chance at a job is insane.

The disparity in activity of this year's thread versus that of last year is astonishing.

Just a quieter group? Fewer applicants? Both?

Has anyone noticed if this phenomenon is occurring in the c/o threads of other schools?

Maybe it's because people are rethinking attending this school?

2013 USNWR ranking: 58
2014 USNWR ranking: 80
According to the above, only 27.5% of students were employed at graduation.

Yeah I'm shocked how far they dropped in one year. Biggest drop for any school ranked in the top 100 that I can see. Portland is just such a small legal market

It's shocking.
All of the Pacific NW schools dropped in rankings with the exception of Gonzaga.
UW from 20 to 28
Lewis and Clark from 58 to 80
U of O from 82 to 94
Seattle from 82 to 102
Gonzaga stayed at 113
Willamette from 129 to no published rank

Yikes.

I'm curious if it is indeed L&C-specific or simply a result of the broader trend. I'll have to peruse the YOY c/o threads of other schools to obtain a better idea.

So employment #s are the single largest driver of these rankings? I understand the methodology is quite complex.

What is going on here? Is the PNW faring that much worse than the rest of the nation? A few schools, I understand. But 5 out of 6 declining (and substantially at that) and the 6th not increasing in rank? Very weird.

It looks like employed at graduation is only 4%. Employed 9 months after graduation is another 14%. There is a lot more to the drop than these figures.

Where did you find the breakdown for these numbers? (4% at graduation and 14% 9 months later).

I agree: these numbers are incredible!

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant 4% and 14% toward the USNWR ranking. Those are not the actual employment figures.
